yup. about half way out you get into the mix with 100s of dolphins. the trip before the last one we took was the best. it was me the wife and the kids. we got about halfway out and in the shadow of the island and it was dead calm water. wife kids saw something in the distance so we motored over to check it out. 2seconds later we were in the middle of a huge pod. I powered up and the kids went to the bow and the dolphins were under my bow riding with me at 40+ mph. I turned a big sweeping left and my wake created decent wall of water behind me and in that wall you could see the dolphins chasing me and playing in my wake. the kids were excited. it was pretty cool. I think the kids were like 8 and 10 at the time. way cool!!
Awesome.

Ever since my first cruise, I mentioned I'll get an ocean boat and I will one day. Lol.

That way, I can go play in the ocean whenever I want. Quick zip over to Catalina for the day would be fun.

u gotta run the Razor out there at least once in your life. I'd be running my 23 laser if it wasn't in havasu.
His boat is in BHC if I am not mistaken ... unless he brought it home.

I have done this a few times, it is a blast. Make sure you have a GPS that you know how to operate properly. Marine Radio is highly recommended as well. :thumbsup

I would say riding in the middle seat is not going to be comfy. A grab handle is almost a necessity!

Anyone have a seat for one more?

I've always wanted to make this trip, but my boat will be stored in Parker.

I live ten minutes from the launch ramp and don't mind paying my fair share.

So I may be backing out of this.............:rolleyes

Not sure yet......depends on whether I want to be a dick or not........:skull

So the wife got pretty irritated when I brought this up last night................the 4th is the Saturday before we move. She wasn't too pleased with the idea of me having her truck all day and being out at Catalina living it up while she packs and moves stuff over to the new house. I guess I don't blame her, but damn this is going to be fun......what to do.......what to do.

salt is ONLY bad when left unchecked. clean your shit really good and all will be well. one time in the salt will not ruin anything.

First, take your balls back out of your wife's purse...j/k!:yikes

The "solution"...have the McRibster pick up you and the boat with his truck.

"Yore" welcome!

PS, happy wife, happy life...ask me how I know...

My boat and its original owner raced the Catalina Ski Race for 3+ years. 21' LaveyCraft XCS. The salt ruined my old trailer and it was literally held together by the weight of boat. You can see the cross members rusted though in the picture. There is no way I'm putting the new trailer in salt.

I would have to assume that one dunk isn't going to kill a trailer. I am sure they didn't just launch for the ski race. That trailer was probably dunked a ton of times.

Jus cause I bought you bfast. I am laughing at the word " compromise". Let me tell you that if you don't stand your ground on this one, you can count all the next ones out.

In my opinion there are certain instances where you have to "stand your ground," and this one just doesn't seem to be one of those.....[emoji6]

I really want to go, don't get me wrong, but the timing sucks.

Boating in the ocean is a completely different experience from lake boating. Ocean boating is more technical so to speak, and is really about reading the water and running the boat. It's not hard to do, and I think that just about any boat can make it to Catalina as long as the driver is willing to slow down as needed.

Salt water is hard on trailers, but its manageable. To me, a little wear and tear on my trailer is worth it for the experience of boating in the ocean.

The verdict is that the wife and I have a lot of work to do with the new house. We leave for Havasu on the 15th and the escrow closes on the 13th. We need to have the new house dialed in before we leave so every day counts. Originally I thought that the new owners would agree to a IOA until June 30th, but they won't and I negotiated and IOA on the new house starting next Friday. I didn't think it through and have too much on the plate to go off and have fun on a weekend that I NEED in order to make everything go smoothly and have a happy wife going to Havasu for a week!

Moving is a TON of work even if it's only a short distance... Especially if there is any painting involved [emoji107]I always hate missing out on trips but certain things are more important and in your case Way more important. Bummer though it really does sound like a fun ride

You have no idea how much I was looking forward to this. Good group of peeps and a great way to go my first time since there will be a lot of boats leading the way that know the big blue.

We are not only painting an entire house but carpet, baseboards, bathroom tile, window coverings...etc. I am way stressed with the limited amount of time we have.

Try not to stress too much you should have a little fun with it. I just put my brad nail gun and compressor away. Mother in law needed some crown moulding and baseboards replaced in the downstairs bathroom.

So does anyone have an open seat? I have fuel money, a lifeline, and I can make sure the fenders are properly stowed. [emoji1] I need to book my airfare.
