Are you going to reuse the cav hardware or upgrade it? I would be interested in buying the stuff you have taken off.

yah. reusing the hardware. i found a great shop in ontario "ontario metal polishing" to make them like new again. they specialize in boat parts or at least their logo has a boat on it.

thanks though.

My trailer is at Hampton Trailers getting restored. Should be done next week. Paint came out awesome. The trailer looks brand new and it was hammered.

What do you mean about glassing the inside?

I checked on the block. It is a gen VI new never bored block and the heads have springs but are not dart... if interested let me know.

I will be up on the hill the next 3 weekends. Glad I was not ski patrolling this weekend because the conditions were incredible. I think we are expected another storm next weekend also.

looking at whether new stringer or not need to go into the boat. At what point is the deciding factor to have new stringers put into a boat? They really do not look that bad, but curious to know about thoughts and what to look out for when delam happens. There is not rot in the wood though. Who has thoughts and advice?

Take a pic and stick it in the wood to see if it is still solid. If the wood is good, I would plug the holes you are not using. Apply reside to the holes you are using.

If there is pure white glass in some areas, that is delamination.

That looks 100 times better.. Out of curiosity, what did you do to the stringers? Plug the holes and gel them black?

I was suggested to remove the old delaminating glass so we did. Then all hole were plugged, sealed, glassed. Then the stringers were sanded and reshaped to original form. Black gel thereafter to bring back a better aesthetic appearance. Apparently they spent almost 60 hours to get them to the condition they are in now. Can't imagine how much work new stringers would have been. They are good as new now.

What, if any, rule of thumb exists for going with a rail kit that runs the whole length of the stringers?

Does anyone have pictures of what they have done in the past?

Full length rail kit is nice cuz it gives you a place to mount just about everything, instead of putting additional holes in the stringers. Downside is the cost and additional complexities of bolting something to a horizontal surface, as opposed to the vertical stringer. If you don't have access to a mill it might not be worth it.

Just my 2 cents. Nice boat.

Look at the rigging on Stoker wholes 19 Schiada Gn Hull.. it was rigged by Wilkes back in the day.

I would probably do full length rails if it were me, but just for looks.. I wouldn't pretend it would add some huge amount of strength to the boat.

The Cavitation plates were redone. Not really sure what new running hardware costs, but to re-polish everything was a few hundred bucks. You can see the before and after.
Ontario Metal Polishing at 4752 Mission Boulevard did the work. 909.590.0422 talk to Lalo.

I thought "bad investment" would be more appropriate... lol... How about this, whoever comes up with the best name is welcome to take it for a spin. :blah:

Open for suggestion...

Decided to run a rail kit a little longer than average to be able to mount in an oil cooler or some add ons. We will see.

How do most rig their water line to their headers? Before or after the water pump?
I was able to find an old school neovane pump with hall craft housing shown in the above picture.
looking for suggestions. Thanks!

Come out of the strainer into the pump, out the pump into the block, out the block/intake manifold to the headers and out the headers. Hope these pics will help you out.

so I blew up the SBC that everyone advised me not to put into the boat. Nonetheless, I learned a lot about good parts and what it takes to go fast in a boat. Since february, I have built a 469 C.I. 10.5 C/R BBC that seems to be real healthy. A handful of guys got together New Years day down at weekend paradise (lake elsinore) to run some laps. I was trying to get out to the last regatta in parker but couldn't get the motor together in time. This was my first run out instead of running to parker for the maiden voyage as I did at the regatta in October 2011. Seems like I have a pretty good power plant in the boat that I hope will last a little while. Anyhow, I am pretty excited about the performance this motor is putting out.
