No not yet, hopefully the wind festival ends soon, and we’ll get out again. Will use GoPro and maybe stick mama on the beach.

Interesting dilemma.
First outing Max 5 ST26p 15.25” diameter, planed well, midrange like a jet boat on steroids and topped at 90mph. 5% slip on top end.

This past Sunday with a Max 5 LT30 15” diameter, i borrowed from Chris Leach, came out of the hole and onto plane amazingly, absolute opposite of what i expected after the prior weekend. Ram awesome in the mid but definitely not the same as the 26p but topped at same rpm at 95mph 13% slip. My 28 Bravo ram a peak of 96, but all around just didn’t feel as good as the Max 5’s.

I’m going to take the 30p and have it checked for pitch at the old Skips and then decide to return or buy from Chris. Could the 1/4” diameter make it plane that much better than the 26p does? As well could the 1/4” less cause that much more slip?

Those “spacers” were polished by Matt when he made the parts for me. They should arrive Thursday so i need to get working on the plate. It’s raw 16g stainless, I’m using to make my belt guard to protect the bimini.
I bought a vented Zephyr wheel and some stainless rouge the other day. I’ve got a 5/8” arbor 8” bench buffer, and I’m a little well interested to see how this vented wheel works. They just look scary.

I’ll spend some time out tomorrow on it hopefully get it done depending on how well it ends up working.
I typically either spin with my drill press with 220 then polish or if it’s flat plat i go after it with a blue SoS pad first. Helps pull the nasty out of it and get a smoother surface first. But I’m far from a good polisher in my opinion, I’m yet to figure the no streaks and swirls tricks yet.

It’s actually awesome, Doesn’t seem to get as mucked up etc and almost self cleans vs a tight cotton weave one. I used it on a handful of other stuff today just to tinker.

Thank you we will be looking at some further changes soon and possibly remaking those spacers as well two more. I rigged up that lower one we talked about but need to add another definitely.

How did the belt shred?

As per ProCharger and their guys who are way smarter than i, we’ve verified all the spacers and depths are perfect. And these belts have been run up over 7200rpm on 1500hp setups, so slim chance but possibly a bad belt. I’m really hoping that’s it, as well the mess was horrible, and took 3-4 hours to get all cleaned up. The belt did hit the engine hatch but luckily no damage other than just a shit ton of mess, and that shit was like tar.

@Springfield delivered me an absolutely beautiful chunk of stainless from Auggie at Cutting Edge and as long as weather permits we'll be on the water tomorrow again. Talking with the head of development at PC they’re wanting to see another video from under the boat so that should be fun to do again.

I didn’t have one before and I’m still using the same strainer it just T’s from the motor to intercooler, it’s only a 5/8” line and all the water pressures are still tight in the middle of where they need to be so no i don’t, and hopefully won’t have any issues or needs to do anything else there.

Two things.

1-Make sure absolutely NO CHEMICALS get on that belt. Not oil, brake clean, Armor All, etc. Nothing.

2-pay attention to prop diameter, because larger diameter is more stern lift, less diameter, less lift, so it would be cool to try a 15”x29P Max5 ST , might just be “the one”

Also, I’d probably just run that 28, as it’ll run in the heat w/family and friends aboard, and you’ve shown its slip numbers are good.

Pay attention to final trim angle; if you’re over trimming to get RPM, your slip goes up because the thrust angle is wrong. People like to think “they can pull that big prop”, but in reality, the smaller prop at the right thrust angle will be faster with less slip, as you’ve shown with the 30 and 29.

Great job!

Oh ok, I have had mine on since 2017 and never an issue but this makes me think I better change it. Lol

Yea I’ve a 15x30 Max5 LT straight to the limiter as well and the slip was pretty high no idea why. The wheel i just bought us a Fast5 which is designed to be identical to the Max5 but from Cutting Edge, is a 15.25”x30 ST.

Had to pull the blower to make a fourth mounting peg, may as well sand and polish the tensioner pulley, well may as well sand and polish the tensioner bracket while i was at it.

Trial and error baby. Good to hear nothing catastrophic happened.

What are you gunning on the intake side of the pro charger? Screen? Mine has a big K&N sticking off it and I dont really car for it.

Yea just the screen, i asked about a filter and they said no need in this environment.

Belt guard/bimini guard is done and works perfect finally. So now to remove plate and finish polishing it. Thinking to get a template cut and then sand blast the ProCharger emblem into it as well.

@02HoWaRd26 yes the aluminum needs something etched in it. I vote gettin dcb on it
Once the bimini is down there it’s pretty much hidden. I’m not feeling the DCB logo there, i have one of two ideas. Either just the swirl from the PC logo or the swirl and Mercury Racing instead of the ProCharger lettering. But…… I’m about 90% set on just the swirl.

Not to sure if i like the diamond print but for 40$ and an hour of cutting aluminum to make the center A plate it’ll work for now.

Once i do the grab bar we’re going to order the GatorStep to match the nose pad and swim steps, but i had this left from a different project so it’ll stay there a few months, had 3’x8’ for 40$ on fleBay

So i had to make two more studs and spacers for the belt guard/bimini guard. I used some random aluminum to make the spacers and well @mattyc didn’t think they looked very, well they weren’t as pretty as the upper ones so he said stop being lazy and get me these measurements, so i can make you the right ones. Well once mounted all four look identical but none of them are actually the the same at all, he killed it for me.

That came together pretty damn nice. I like how some of these projects evolve. You have an idea that works and looks good in your head but as it comes together it isnt quite what you imagined so changes are made and things evolve. Glad I was able to help. Now I just have to see this thing on the water!!

A little too much prop with the Cutting Edge Fast5 30p, but 94 @ 52-5300 rpm on the VesselView wish i knew how to recall off it, showed just over 92 on the recall on the gauges.

Had some issues with the belt slipping and kinda melting, so had to go to a stronger belt, but only available way bigger or a little smaller. Well that brought up a new issue, and the tensioner pulley was hitting the bimini, so back to the drawing board made a mistake on first mounting location, then solved that issue, but had to make a bent tad for the bimini to rest on. Works as intended now.
Next will be a whole new face plate now that i think i have it all worked out.

So when i did the blower i really didn’t want to add any holes to the boat so we T’d the two outer sponson bilge drains together and then used the rear hole for the intercooler. It looks dope, but cannot start on hose in garage as it’s a squirt gun, and the water spots if i don’t clean ever stop get bad. So i ordered a new TCM stainless flush drain and have all my hardware polished and ready to roll. But…… now to decide where to put it is the hard part. The engine uses a pickup tube so the lower unit lwp solely runs water to the top of the drive cap/shower, so the water there would be more but not necessary. So I’m thinking under or next to the exhaust. I know @Tony DCB Boats does it under, but it’s almost like a bov tube for a turbo buggy lol.
Any input would be great.
