Covid money spent wrong?

I had it on a pool about 5 years ago. My wife hated it but it looked really good when no ones in the pool. When we moved and had a new build we went to plaster. My wife's reason was we had kids now and they are going to be playing in the pool more and they will complain about the bottom pebbles.
