Everything I researched so far says that the braided hose, including the teflon, is NOT coast guard approved.
If you have seen something that says it is, i'm all on board.
The weave pattern is the cloth. I would think sanding it down is like taking away the strength. Why not mix up a flow coat of resin to fill in the voids of the weave pattern and paint that ? I'm just saying it might be less work.
The rub rail thing is easy. The LEDs are on ebay, cheap and wire up to 12 volts, built in diode. Bore out a stainless screw and clear silicone it in the hole. Works great.

I am trying to get the pitting out of these covers with just hand sanding. It seems way too time consuming and painful on my fingers. Using 150 grit first and then 320 and see how it polishes up.
