Whoah, OK. Now all of a sudden it looks like it would work. Take off the trolling motor, power poles, delete all the live wells/storage and fishing stuff... Might be a serious contender. The 627 is almost the same weight as the 600, too. Maybe it's a similar size. Alright, now all of a sudden I...
I thought we were getting warmer until I kept looking. Yeah, it might be rated at 627 hp, but I don't think the transom or freeboard/draft (moulded depth?) are physically large enough to fit the 600. Looking through the photos it seems that hp rating is assuming normal twin motors.
You know...
This may sound really obvious, but have you tried lowering the motor?
I keep seeing this complaint from a lot of new builds. I feel like the builders are setting everything up for ultimate top speed and the new owners are wondering why their holeshot sucks ass. It's like Ferarri and Lamborghini...
I'll never want anything other than one or two lightweight old two strokes on a lightweight hull. I'll never be in the market for a 600 on anything. I'm just wondering what a boat specifically designed to hold a single 600 would look like, if it was maximized for performance. Never said it had...
It bottoms out on another part of the casting before it hits the pin in that forward most hole. Would need a wedge on the jack plate to get any more down trim.
Tested the motor at the new height. I think I'm done messing with it. With a full or half load of people it holeshots perfectly and is fast enough to scare everybody except me, lol. I lost most of my up trim now, but it doesn't really need it. I can only bump the trim up 3 or 4 bursts before it...
Small update with some more theory/learning.
We put a new interior in the boat so now it weighs more, especially in the back. It still had a great holeshot, but I lost over 1,000 RPM and 10 mph especially with people on the back bench (no surprise). I raised the motor 1" for the next test...
When you say "only a 30 minute trip" I am assuming your are throwing a heaping dose of sarcasm on the reality of a very high average speed. Right?
Also, this reminds me of something I saw a few months ago. I think it was this same boat, and it was something to the effect of London Bridge to...
From what I learned being in the trucking industry those were the blunder years of modern emissions on diesels. Even class 8 tractors fell victim to all the new laws and engineering mistakes. I agree you probably could not fix your truck without deleting stuff and needing some kind of "tune". I...
Running those misters during humid monsoon weather is hilarious to me. They would probably work pretty well during any other part of the year, but we are smack dab in the middle of humid hell.
Yeah that would be me. Really sucks living in a country + city that is completely car dependent. I can hardly leave the house anymore.
Ironically, I am a former OTR truck driver and former full time Uber driver. So what the hell? I am currently blaming it on seeing way too many people die on...
I know they were primarily designed to reduce the number of 450R's hanging off the back of big center consoles and stuff. I'm not interested in that, though.
I know what a really light and small boat looks like with a 300 hanging off the back. And it's easy to then imagine what a slightly...
That's the same double pumper I'm running on my 1987 Evinrude 175 crossflow. I have to say it's working like a freaking champ.
I ran all new line everywhere, and to be honest it was a challenge. I used Trident 305 B1-15...
So I replaced the entire fuel system including a new fuel pump and completely rebuilt carburetors. Ran absolutely perfect on the trailer, so took it out for test #4.
The motor starts, idles, and runs absolutely perfect now, so it was a good test. I lost track of where I am prop to pad, but it's...
I was a driver for a few years. I had no problem passing other trucks with my governer. It was pretty simple. If I was lighter than the guy in front of me I would get a run on him on the next up hill. Otherwise my ass sat behind the guy in front of me for as long as it took him to exit the...
That's some insanely nice structural wood work and then a perfect upholstery job laid on top of it. Jealous. They weren't messing around.
I asked for transom braces at a local shop and they cut two square pieces of thin plywood that don't mate up to anything and then slapped ONE layer of the...
The only thing that compares to the cost of boating is taking stuff offroad. I was pit crew on a few teams over the years and tried building a few prerunners. Offroad terrain is unrelenting on parts. So basically I came here to say the same thing, lol.
I'm pretty sure the "light ends", or more volatile stuff, breaks off and evaps out the same speed no matter what grade it is. Also, if they are ~E10 and not pure race fuel, they are both trying their hardest to suck the water out of the air. Stabilizers actually work, though. And if you ever...
