I think fuel prices have slowed trucks down enough. On a recent trip across Texas, this was the first time ever where I was passing all the trucks with my cruise set at the speed limit of 80. Normally they are blowing past Me at those speeds.

Weird, seems to be different in Ca. It used to be strange to see a semi doing over 65ish on the way to Havasu. I’ve seen more doing 75-80 in the last year than ever. The speed doesn’t bother me. The number of truckers on their phones driving braille is crazy.

Stay in your lanes and no one cares what speed your going. Start going out 3-4 lanes in a pass and fuck everything up is a pisser offer. Yes. Our Newhall pass is 5 lanes and The fucking assholes are 4 lanes from the right with a truck lane coming up. 🤬🤬

I think truckers need a bigger turbo and dump the tracking devices/governors so they can haul ass. Get that freight to its destination quickly!

Just another federal agency trying to justify their existence, but failing.

You think we have a supply chain issue now, wait till this bullshit passes.

There’s already a huge driver shortage, do you guys think this is going to make it better? Go pick up your own freight! 😂

I’ve actually noticed, I think, that the truckers on my short (25 mile) commute have been a bit closer to the speed limit if not less. Wouldn’t surprise me they’re slowing down to save fuel costs. 🤷‍♂️

Gladly and lately I have been lol. Just a “local” example. Simpson hardware is located in riverside/Fontana area. Getting material shipped to ventura/LA county can take 3-4 business days. 4 hours of my time saves me days.

If something worth 5k or more is located in New York for instance and my supply house tells me it will take 2-4 weeks to deliver. It sounds like a great opportunity to pick up 25k worth and make a killing.

I don’t want this to come across as anti trucker, because it’s not. But eventually you get pushed to a point where you need figure out alternative options.

Edit: structural beams ordered through BMC lumber in Simi Valley get “delivered” on tuesdays or Fridays? Can’t remember but it’s two specific days. Or I can go pick up in Santa Clarita day after I order. Just takes me buying a bigger trailer.

What a joke. That’s why I bust my ass so hard right now. I want out of the truck within 5 more years so I don’t have to deal with all the BS regulations. Right now you can still work the system but I know those days are limited.

Oh, if it get's to that point . . . i'll put a legit bumper on and start tapping them from behind . . . i 'drafted' a truck 2 trips back when it got windy, and when I passed him, he tripped out as i threw a 'hang-loose' sign out the window . . . .fuck-it.

California limits truck speed to something like 55/65 even when normal cars have a 70 mph limit or whatever..the signs are all over. Texas doesn’t…if it says 80 then trucks can and will do 80…

My friend in High School was a crazy good driver . . . . we'd be jamming up to Ventura to a surf contest in the witching hour, and he'd run-up on you from behind and tap your bumper in his Jetta doing 65-70 . . . . he didn't care . . .

You’re going to be awful busy picking up all this shit plus your food clothing and everything else you need for the basic necessities of life.😂

I don’t blame you. I’m working on building a broker side of my business here shortly but that’s hard for me because I hate putting my name on something with other people I don’t trust 🤣

I was a driver for a few years. I had no problem passing other trucks with my governer. It was pretty simple. If I was lighter than the guy in front of me I would get a run on him on the next up hill. Otherwise my ass sat behind the guy in front of me for as long as it took him to exit the highway. Sometimes that was 200 miles. Passing at 0.3 mph delta gets old REAL quick. I don't understand why any driver ever attempts it. Maybe I am the only one who feels guilty shutting down all efficient flow of traffic on the highway. The governers aren't the problem, it's the mentality of the drivers. Make it illegal to pass in more than 2 minutes and you can governer every truck in the world for all I care.

I didn't want to go 80 mph with all that weight anyway. What a disaster that turns in to real quick.

Like I said I’m not anti trucker. But I won’t just lay down and die.

And while I’m awfully busy, I’ll be making 100% minimum profit on everything I pick up.

I’m an electrician by trade. It’s no different than me telling you I’ll just shut your lights off (and it’ll take me 5 mins and the lights won’t come back on).

There needs to be more humility amongst trades, industries, professionals, etc.

That's going to make for some really close drag racing on the 40...

In case you were wondering the truck in the right hand lane won after miles and miles of a close race.

It’s like driving on I 40 one truck going 55 and the next one doing 57 the truck going 55 sees the other going 57 so they speed up to 58 and there you sit they are a bunch of A** holes

I drive from phx to oc often trucks are cruising along good on the az side. 70-75 often they pass quickly too I can set cruise not really touch it.

Cross the river into ca it’s instant stop then you get the 5 mile drag race with Pepe breaking 61 to pass pedros 60 once in front he continues then merged over.and they love to watch you come up at 75 and swing right in front of you last second.🙈 when they could have easily
Let you by no one behind me they still had plenty room in front of them before next truck too.

I use to be that guy that let them merge over to pass etc I know it can be rough at times but these days I say f them now

They are talking about setting the computer in the truck so it can NOT exceed a certain set speed. You can put your foot on the floor but you aint going any faster. Kinda like driving the autopia cars at Disney.

I can see it now. 2 trucks side by side for 20 minutes!! Ur government at its finest. Fuck it. Piss off enough people I bet the phones in washington start ringing

Commercial truck drivers are the best drivers on the road....except Swift drivers....F those guys!
Maybe back in the day that was true. Very few good ole boys trucking anymore. No common courtesy or respect on the road like their used to be. Shit most of these guys can’t even back up in a straight line it’s scary. 🤦‍♂️

Shit . . . remember when truckers used to use light signals to indicate it was safe to pass etc. ??? . . . or how about the 'On-Off' of the lights to 'thank you'.
Those days are long since gone unfortunately.

I have passed drag racing semis on the right shoulder along there. I'd reached my limit.
Lol, wide open road ahead of me after that and never saw another car behind me for the next 30 miles.

I avoid the 10 from Prescott to San Diego as much as possible. I think i have a 30 mile section I have to do. The trucks trying to pass for 5 minutes, then realize its not gonna work, then fade back drive me nuts. I take the scenic route through Glamis and I8. Covid was great for the drive but its back to crazy plus now...

Did a turnaround trip to the river on Wednesday. On my return home on the 40 I was passing a truck and as I approached he went off into the shoulder for a good couple hundred yards. I’m like wtf is this guy doing? As I passed him I looked up into the cab and I kid you not his foot was up on the dash, one hand on the wheel and the other hand was texting on his phone.

I go by those guys quick now when I pass them. They can be unpredictable and they are all on their phones, every single one of them.

Every day another regulation hits truckers. Don't know the accident rate per miles driven but bet it is low compared to autos. If they want to do something about safety related accident rates may be there should be a national vehicle safety inspection. Being an auto tech I have seen customers refuse repairs on vehicles that have no or little brakes [driving with the emergency brake], broken suspensions, missing one or more wheel studs, and even drivers doors that won't stay shut. I know it will never happen because some of these cars will be impounded. People who are least able to afford repairs won't have transportation. I am not for more government just saying the truckers are being singled out all too often.

Or the truck about to pass the other cuts you off w/ no signal right before you are about to pass both trucks and makes you wait behind him while he passes the other truck at 1 mph faster.

Or how about when they abruptly swerve over and almost hit you or cut you off because there is a truck parked on the shoulder? How is that more safe than just staying in their lane?

I've noticed more and more on the local freeways that they just drive in whatever lane they want, 3-4 wide blocking the the flow of traffic.

What are the teaching in trucking school?

Yup, with boat in tow as well 😃
.
41mph up Chiriaco was just too much for me to handle...it was even too much for Jan since she's the one that said the shoulder was wide open, "go for it"😄

Ive made customers pull their trailers out of my yard on flatbeds before. ive even had one call the cops on me for refusing to let him hook up to it after refusing repairs and it was in extremely bad shape. i dont play games with that shit

1 finger holding the horn on, the other flashing high beams. The whole time they are playing that pass game. I've had my horn stop working my finger on it too long. Fuck those assholes and their 10 minute passes. Truckers never used to do that shit. Just doing my part to educate drivers......

Since we are bagging on truckers , not just speed .
For some reason
Enjoying everyday trucking
I flash my lights
Say thank you , with a light flash, even though the 4 wheeler didn’t give lights
I’ll put you in the shoulder , if you don’t get on the freeway at 60 plus
I’ll cut you off, if you try to grab a spot, I had my blinker on for 1 minute .
I’ll honk when asked too
I’ll honk my horn through tunnels . Just because
I’ll run 55/60 all day long
I won’t block traffic going up a hill
I’ll watch 90% of car drivers text, or be on there phone
For some odd reason the carpool lane and fast lanes have bad accidents everyday .
Put the fucking phone down
Car drivers , Stop going 50 mph in the two truck lanes . That we are allowed to be in .
Stop cutting of trucks, to make your exit .
Slow the fuck down in heavy traffic
I can go on and on and on and on
But there are some old time truckers , still out here . Yes , It’s changed , yes, there are a few bad truck drivers . I see them everyday .
Cheers, have a great weekend

Not bagging on truckers, just asshole truckers. Glad to see there are still pros out there, used to be the rule, now the exception. I don’t text and drive, and I take driving seriously. I just want to get there safely and efficiently, that means not wasting time with dickheads. I don’t want to offend any pros.
