Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with Rolex really, I want some of them quite badly honestly. However, some of the one brand fanatics are a bit much. The daytona being called the "cosmograph" when the Speedy racing watch is the one that went to the moon is still my favorite "name" though. Wasn't there a microbrand that recently came out with a "desk diver" to be awesome?

For me it’s always been about the submariner style watches. It’s the style I’ve always gravitated towards, and ownership was a goal I wanted to achieve when I felt I’d earned enough in life to get one.

I have a Steinhart diver watch as well, which I bought YEARS before my first Rolex, but I typically try to get the homage watches in colors that I won’t get on a Rolex.

It’s not so much a matter of *wanting* to wear an homage watch over a Rolex (and don’t get me wrong, Sqaule and Steinhart make incredible watches), but it’s the difference in wearing a $500 watch vs a $15,000 watch (or more in the case of what’s on my wrist now) for day to day life, as I’m often clumsy and I don’t want to completely destroy something I’ve invested so much into. I wear them plenty, but I usually let the situation dictate it.

Wear the heck out of my Steinhart as you can see. Bracelet broke so threw a cheapo on it until new one comes. Once the 4 kids are out college in 3 years, dad is treating himself!

Love it. I threw a nato strap on the steinhart and I have no idea what I did with the original bracelet. Oops.

Picked up a green Cocktail Time from Teddy’s website…will be perfect for the 4x per year I need to wear a suit / cuffs with a long sleeve shirt.

With a decent leather strap and deployant clasp, I’m not sure what beats it at the sub-$500 price point.

Went to my favorite Degenerate hangout and was beckoned into the Breitling store by this gawd awful Raiders watch advertisement.

I’ve wanted two SuperOcean 44s for a while, the Tiffany blue one, and the olive green one.

The sales rep was wearing one I’d never seen. I guess they give those guys one watch a year, and he’s been waiting for this one and snagged it. Anyway. It’s bronze and brown. And the bronze is like.. “unfinished”(?). It develops a patina.

The promo pics on the site don’t do it justice so I stole one from Chrono. It’s stunning.

So now there’s THREE I want. Lolol
