Pretty Badass on paper.

The heartbeat of the Maverick R comes from an industry-defining 240-horsepower 999T Rotax 999cc turbocharged inline three-cylinder, four-stroke, fuel-injected engine. Putting the power to the ground faster and more efficiently than ever before, the Maverick R utilizes the first-ever Rotax off-road seven-speed DCT design, automatic or optionally controllable by paddle shifter. This potent package provides the Maverick R power-to-displacement ratio to leave the competition in the dust.

The smart lightbar technology sounds pretty cool if they are actually bright enough. Running larger tires will probably require an aftermarket company to modify the from suspension.

Edit: I guess you can run 35's on it stock.

I would like to see a real world comparison between this and the speed car.

I don't think it looks bad. I care more about how it performs, and on paper, it's ahead of the competition right now. Still keeping my X3, but I like to see the envelope being pushed so maybe I can buy a better SXS next time around.

It appears the main suspension parts are hydroformed steel. Is that a new thing?

Yes that would be new.

Don’t break anything though, that’s gotta cost a mint to replace. Car looks pretty cool!

The weight though… FML.

Also sounds like they come with 16” wheels.. not a fan of that.

Not for me personally, that’s for sure.

Front suspension just doesn’t make sense to me. I know how it works, but I don’t see the advantage of it at all. Getting around patents(ie Speed, Polaris)?

No tire selection for that

Interesting car and finally they’ve updated their lineup. I’ll wait to see how it performs and if any weak points arise. It definitely has that Yamaha look which doesn’t help it from the esthetics standpoint. If it performs nobody will care about it’s looks.

I bet it will be a runner. Just a lot of oddball stuff on it. I think it looks fine compared to the Catfish Polaris :) and the Predator X3

The lower models come with 15's. Could probably get 15's on whatever model you want but there has to be a reason the more expensive ones come with 16's?

I just don’t see that suspension living.. but who knows sometimes in engineering the way things look doesn’t matter to the way things are?

Either way I think the value of pro r’s and speeds just went up.

Yea… maybe bigger brakes? That hub/brake assembly looks pretty substantial.

DCT is cool. Maybe an aftermarket company can come up with a better mousetrap. That’s pretty hideous.

The people that like Can Am engines and/or DCTs will like these cars. If the car is competitive (I’m sure it will be) it will sell fine.

I think these will be expensive to repair in an accident.

Aside from the high cheekbones, I think this car looks better than the outgoing one.

Can Am is still going to offer the X3 for now. This new car is more of an answer to the Pro R. If I was in the market I would definitely give this car a serious look. I have wanted a car without a belt for years.

I don’t want the added complexity and weight of the DCT at this point. They are probably the direction the industry will end up though because these cars need some kind of overdrive. The auto shift is nice because 90% of the time manual shifting is a drag and is slower.

Interesting build method on can am website
Looks like you can built 3 different ways.
I'm sure you can al a cart as well.

I do like they partnered with JL and offer six 6.5s and two 10 subs.

It's not cheap!

Talks about the reason for the link system, the DCT and system that shuts down a cylinder to keep the turbo spun up to avoid lag. Also 3 piston brakes.

It's too bad Bombardier didn't consult RDP before spending millions to develop this new model. Idiots.
For sure, because anybody that works for Can-Am is a genius and anybody that posts on RDP is a moron. Except you of course, I'm sure you're always the smartest guy in the room.

Pretty much.
Yeah I figured as much. Your posts always have a bit of a condescending tone, but this one puts you way over the top. So are you defending that ridiculous suspension design by can-am, or just being condescending to be yourself?

I’m interested to see what happens when rocks / branches and all sorts of other shit get bound up between the tires and that linkage..

I think that whole program is crazy.
It's literally the dumbest thing ever to come out of off-road design. But others will defend it, because some 21-year-old engineer from Can-Am came up with it.

This car has a ton of tech in it and on paper is best SXS on the market right now. I think I will sit back and watch before shitting on it. I am not a buyer for any new SXS at the moment, but I like these different manufacturers pushing the envelope.

Nothing to defend yet. But you can't honestly think can am would built something worse than before? Which the X3 suspension is good. Yes. There are better right now.

There's just no way it's not improved from a 2023 x3. The makes zero common sense in the competitive utv world.

Is it odd looking, yeap. Does it work, sure.. will it break? Yeap. Just like the rest..

So Can am likes to have all their releases dialed in before it’s sent out to the public, this car has been in the work’s / development for a few years. It got delayed due to Covid - Then waited for the 50 year anniversary

Even thought it’s goofy looking, Let’s see a new head to head shoot out !!

Im more curious about the power and transmission !

Hopefully the after market companys can make the frt end look good…

lol

Im late to the party.

At what point do you just bite the bullet and make the damn cars wider so the suspension can be normal......

That's ridiculous

Race regs for UTVs are 77” wide. They likely wont be any wider because that impacts the ability to haul them around in toyhaulers.

The geometry is the geometry. If the car is 77” wide or scaled up to 90” wide, they would have made it like that.
