Maynard took the advise of RDP members and his job worked out good.
Sage advise. Works from dark AM to dark PM.

They saw his potential and soon was promoted and is in charge of an engineering section.
Brutally top secret place making some serious stuff. A whole new definition of confidential and stealth operations.

When I worked we were always under the threat of being replaced with Mexicans.
Maynard says now the threat is being replaced with AI. I think that's just scuttlebutt amongst employees.

How your kids doing in the job market?

My kids are all over the board.

My daughters (21/22) are working part time jobs and figuring it out. Renting apartments, paying utility bills, fixing hoopty cars and dealing with roommates. Same things I did at that age. Growing up,living life and figuring out that said life is expensive.

My son (almost 24) is civil engineer in heavy civil and already making more money than me but is working hard. He’s worked on projects in northern canada, Texas and now in Wyoming. He’s learning a ton and says he wants to get his PE stamp within 6 years. Got his shit together way before I did.

Me? I retire next year and still not really sure how I’m doing? 😂

My kids are doing awesome, both are fire fighters, one is currently in paramedic training and the other is working on his engineer's certification then is going to be sent off to paramedic's training. That's some proud papa shit right there.

It took our oldest 8 years to become a Ventura County firefighter/paramedic and he loves his job.
Oldest daughter thought she wanted to work in film and television production after college but after two years she headed into digital marketing and is doing pretty good with it. Her current employer will lose her if they don’t challenge and compensate her more.
Youngest daughter graduated hs with a 4.2 and went to Paul Mitchel graduating with every award available. She’s killing it financially and sets her own schedule, Havasu on the weekends during summer, winter is split between Mammoth and the desert. I’m a little jealous.
No drug users and no liberals, I feel very lucky.

Oldest son is one hell of a painter in Colorado (several cars featured) but chooses the security of driving trucks for a major brand to support his family.

Other son is LEO in Kansas .

Youngest a daughter is in logistics. Moved to Tennessee and I think has more free money than all of us ( but also no kids, YET)

Wife and I are are over the moon that our children have found their ways into productive lives.

Oldest drives a trash truck. Laugh but he makes good $$ with full benefits & no weekends. Lol

Daughter is finishing mortuary school and works at a large funeral home for her internship where she will be full time when she finishes school. Her boyfriend is litterally a rocket scientist at Lockheed Martin doing something with missiles. 🤷‍♂️

Youngest is an airline pilot & marrying a DR in september

All 3 way more successful than me & I couldn’t be more proud 👍

My 26 y/o Son is working at Chevron, same as me, and he's married and has a 9 week old daughter, he's renting currently since buying in the South Bay is ridiculous right now, that and he's been building a killer pre-runner truck the last 4 years.

22 y/o daughter graduated ASU last year, and packed it up and moved to Nashville to work the bar scene over there for a couple years before she heads back to AZ and starts her actual career as a school teacher. She's killing it in Nashville, she makes really good money working VIP at 2 different bars, and rents an apartment by herself. I'm super proud of her, moving across the country with absolutely zero friends or family there. Huge Balls in my mind.

My oldest is 25 and married with his first child on the way in May. Works at a wealth management company and doing well. He's studying for his series 7 license now and already received his insurance license as well. He's pulling in $85K at this time and will be eligible for commission when he passes his test.

My 20 year old son is at community college and will be going to UCLA next quarter. He wants to be an estate attorney. He started his own mobile detailing business with his friend as soon as he graduated high school and he's killing it. He's got an in with some very well known poker players and goes to their Beverly Hills house twice a week when they're playing and washes all the players cars. It's a $50K minimum buy in and they always have private chef, hookers, and blow lol. They come back with fat stacks of cash every day lol.

My 18 year old is at community college and she starts the zoology / animal care and training program next semester. This program is very well known around the world so she'll have a job as soon as she's done with the program. She's got two part time jobs as well. She's very independent and wants to pay for all her own stuff.

I was so stressed out about their future when they were younger and now that they've figured out what they want to do, life is so much easier lol.

This thread actually scares me. My daughter is a senior in high school and works at staters and I am scared to death of what she will do after high school. Says she wants to go to school and be a RN but has taken the EZ road in high school all these years and I am really afraid she won't put in the work. My son is in 8th grade so I don't have to worry about him quite yet.

My 28yo - Head of Maintenance for an apartment complex in Denver. Up for Area Maintenance Supervisor once he gets his HVAC certs. They are paging for him to get his HVAC certs. Pulls down close to 65k (includes OT). Plus he gets a huge discount on rent and a free garage.

My 22yo - CF - have work to do on this one

My 12yo - Between band, travel indoor volleyball, beach volleyball - she is taking up all my free time :)

My 19 year old got his EMT cert right after highschool ended. He worked for a private ambulance company (McCormick) for six months then got hired on with Torrance FD as an ambulance operator. He’s currently applying for UCLA paramedic school and hoping to get a seat in the next class, but it’s tough not being sponsored by an FD. Persistence persistence.

He’s also attending junior college and working on his fire science degree. He takes all the fire fighter tests he qualifies for and has an interview LA City fire next month. 🤞

He knows his path and he’s determined. Momma and I are super proud and we know he’ll make it sooner than later.

My kids are doing very well. Son is a Principal Business Architect for Blue Cross of N.C. but still lives his waterfront home in MD. Daughter is Board Certified Behavioral Analyst and works with Autistic kids and their families. She recently bought a townhouse on the golf course next to Wedgefield Country Club about 20 miles from Orlando. Very proud mom and dad here. This is a great thread BTW. :)

Replaced by Mexicans that’s a good one

A long time ago that was the big “threat” according to the media and certain political parties.. I can show you speeches from Bill Clinton and Joe Biden and many others relating that mantra all day long.

Growing up in San Diego we all loved the Mexicans, legal or illegal didn’t matter. For a variety of reasons I could list but mainly the work ethic and searching for a better life.. pride like o other no hand outs..

Obviously things have shifted over the decades on all fronts.. cartels / drugs really have fucked everything up across the board, along with the people they pay. Well I guess technically if ya wander down that rabbit hole probably has just as much to do with our own CIA flooding our streets with drugs to initiate the problem..

Sports are so weird. All mine played.

My middle daughter was a stud in soccer. Played through high school and 2 years at JUCO. Had offer for D1 last 2 years and decided she wanted to go to Cosmo school(i was bummed). She graduates next month and on to life. She is happy.

My son played travel hockey and he picked his college for engineering based on it was a school he could play for. (His level of hockey- D2) hockey got him through school and now he is killing it. Teamwork, toughness and locker room dynamics have prepared him well for the real world.

My youngest played volleyball because thats what her friends did. It got her through school.

Enjoy the ride. Broke is temporary. Happy kids are the point.

That reminded me of a time with my boy when he was 3 at the Aquarium of the Pacific....he peed in one of the pools where you get to pet the sharks lol.

We got lucky, all three of our kids have their heads screwed on right with a good work ethic.
29 year old daughter, works remote for huge company, good job but need to find more $$ to move from a renter to a owner.
27 year old son does okay, works in social services, so more rewarding than financial gains, it's his choice.
27 year old son #2, unlike the other two, he has no college degree, works remote in social media marketing, he makes great $$$ and his side gig in social media doubles his jobs salary. I told him all this social media stuff was crap, he keeps proving me wrong when it comes to his income.

Specialty RNs in my wife's section all make over $150K a year starting. Way North of that.
