Yore Phone: Financed or paid off?

My employer covers my phones and service 100%. Haven't paid for a phone in years.

I finance although current iPhone SE is paid off. Employer reimburses so everything is effectively free. I finance wife and kids phones. Nobody gets the latest and greatest. I hope Apple keeps an SE version around for awhile. Works for a no frills kinda guy like me (it does pick some horsepower under the hood which is nice).

My employer has covered the phone and service since I have had a cell phone (20+ years), never paid for either. I get a new one every 2 years and can choose the Iphone model. I pick the latest phone that doesn't cost me anything, corporate unlimited usage accounts cuts the price of the phone in half or more. I have a 1.75 YO Iphone 13 pro. Didn't cost me anything. Last phone was an 11 pro, same deal, gave it to my youngest kid when I got the 13 and its still going strong and replaced the Android POS my ex had bought for him. Guess the younger generations really like Iphones.

I switched to prepaid AT&T back in like 2016…buy the unlocked phones, and am not pinned to a contract. Would not go back. Partially for this reason

30 bucks a month unlimited data with 15gbs of hotspot. Been with ATT for 20 plus years. Even though I had a free phone from work I had to pay for my wife and kids. Yes they suck when it comes to customer service but everyone has a horror story with their carrier. I see I can get 20gb a month for 25 a month on a prepaid ATT plan if I pay a year in advance. Tempting. Maybe in 31 months when my contract is over.

The only reason I contemplate going to an apple product is for the video/content creation aspect. I really would like to start a YouTube channel as most of my mechanical adventures are not covered by anyone. So i would like to give back to the community some how and help others in my predicament.

We switched from Verizon to AT&T . Verizon was getting stupid expensive. Then found out the wife's cousin works for AT&T and hooked us up!! We got all new phones, I have the Ultra 22, wife has the iSuck 14 pro max or whatever, and the 2 oldest kids have the iPhone 13 minis. The only reason they got them was because they actually DROPPED our bill about $60 by having them. All are financed and our bill is less than $200. I've posted this before, but this is the zoom on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, crazy good! And this video was just handheld too. That is all the digital image stabilization.

The editing tools on the Samsung are just as good if not better.

The best tools will on for a PC no matter what. Don't be fooled by the hype.

Honestly i dont know why i was thinking.that. probably because i had a MacBook years ago and i made a few videos on that and it relatively easy. Essentially just drag and drop. Im not really a tech nerd but in past experiences it seems things play better together when you use one team or another no cris-crossing. Is that still true?

They are just video files. You can edit them however you want.

If I'm going to do Serious video editing, I'll use my dual 34" screens to do it. It's tough to do multi track editing on a phone!

I like this software. And they make a Mac version as well. Of course there are better products out there, but they cost HUGE money as well. To me, this is the best bang for the buck. And yeah, they make a phone version as well, but I've never tried it.

It just depends what you want to do. Simple edits, like I did in the" great white north thread" are easy peasy on any new phone. If you want to do multi track editing, dual screens are the way to go.

I’ve always rocked a small phone. My eyesight is great and I don’t want to carry a brick in my pocket. I use an iPhone 13 mini. I utilize dual SIM cards, one for work and one for my private number. They discontinued the iPhone 13 mini so I bought an extra one just in case. It’s still sealed in the box. I pay cash for phones. A dual SIM card phone needs to be contract free to run ATT and Verizon.

Although I have been known to rock smaller phones in the past…..

I have both an I-Phone and an Android, both paid off. I use the I-Phone for work and the Android for personal use. The Android is my back-up phone so I don't loose the number. Our company pays for our cellular service so it costs me nothing.

Oh, and btw, I have a iPhone XR for work and I can get rid of my personal phone if I want, but I don't want anybody telling me what I can and can't do on my phone and, as soon as I'm done with work, the work phone goes away, yet I can still talk to friends and family and what not. By doing this, it allows me to fully disconnect from work. It makes a huge difference to being able to enjoy your off time. I've watched my dad and other friends that only have the one phone and they never fully turn off work. Even if a conversation isn't had or an email read, just seeing the notification or even the app itself triggers the thoughts of work and starts the thought process for it. It's worth the little extra expense and size in my pocket.

All our phones are paid for my business. Family plus employees. We have like ten lines I think. T Mobile. I think they make you finance new phones? It is just an extra $20 on the bill for a while as far as I know. My current phone was literally run over by my Nova. It fell out of my pocket and I backed over it. LOL The back is cracked up badly the front just has a couple tiny cracks. Its a few years old, a OnePlus I think. As long as it works, I don't really care about crazy features. I miss my blackberry...
