Marine AC or traditional AC? If it is real marine AC where the coil uses lake water then you might be able to run AC more efficiently and not require as much power. If it is traditional residential with a fan blowing 115 degree air over a coil then more power. I will let an AC person with experience explain the thermo dynamics, but I do know that Marine AC using lake water is better!

So I went and looked at it.. it’s not a bad deal but it isn’t for me.

There is no shower on the boat just a head. The guy said they use an outside shower which would be do able. It’s just a big open room with one small bedroom in the back.

There is no “live aboard” but I suspect if you ran the Generator you could crash on it every now and again or on the weekends.

The marina believes there is electrical coming from the boat into the water but that is an easy fix.. just pay the marina electrician to inspect fix it.. I suspect it would be less than 500.00

you could frame in a real deal shower in front of the bathroom and still have plenty of room for entertaining.

it’s a cool deal but not the condo on the water I was envisioning.. with some work and 10-15k it could be really cool.

Any idea what the “houseboats” at the springs pay in slip fees? The ones out by the break water.

Somehow this still seems like a deal. Maybe low ball them 10k so you can buy a 7k inverter Honda generator. But you’d have to buy into house boating havasu it sounds like.

It’s a money pit but could be a fun money pit lol.

Didn’t know how efficient it was vs today’s tech.

No idea on the fuel burn. But if the slip fee is $600 a month, maybe carry down a few 5 gallon cans for generator? $100 a month might cover a few weekends?

Honda 7000 runs about a gallon an hour at full tilt. 1/3 of that in eco mode.

Edit: then again with 10k off just burn the fuel lol

The anodes I have on my dock that are closest to that boat get eaten pretty fast. It got worse after they overhauled the inside of the boat. Interesting that the marina is aware.

The boat next door has ground wires.. like literal ground wires.. I have never seen that before.. The guy ran poles down into the earth and then connected them.

I have the same on my slip which is just a few boats away from this one. The wires clamp onto the aluminum on my lift and go to anodes hanging from the dock. It protects the lift when it is down in the water.

I had an old Tiara sport fisher for 3 years with a partner. Boat was decent, got a good deal on it and found a decent partner to share it with me on Craigslist. Moored it in San Pedro. While it was cool to spend an occasional weekend in Catalina with friends/family, it wasn’t as cheap as I anticipated. My end of the slip and bottom cleaning was about $400/month but there was never a single month where it was just that. Electrical issues, a port motor replacement, tender replacement, wood refinishing, instrument replacement/fixes, refrigerator problems and other issues conspired to keep the costs up. Most regular months were over $1,000. That was on top of fuel.
Glad to get out of it…

asking a lot from the small anodes on the new modern pontoon....with the amount of electrics they now have....my buddies little house boat next to me on A-Dock(dock with full shore power) we hung a temporary zinc clamped to the bow farthest from motor and zincs.

I wouldn’t buy it without having a marine surveyor do an analysis of it.
