Prop is on. Sun is out. I borrowed a tach that reads 8k until I order one. She's about ready to get wet. IMG_2996.jpg IMG_2994.jpg

Gonna start with a 24 ET. This isn't an F2 boat. Its at least 1200lbs plus interior. It's never gonna be really fast. I'm hoping for 75/80.

Gotta get some good gas.

Looking forward to a report. Is that a stock 280? 7750 box on it?

Nothing sounds like a 2.5 with an offshore mid. It's porn. Lol.

I'm too high. Not enough water pressure. But it hit low 70's at 7k easy. Got on plane like a rocket. I'll lower the motor and try a 26.

Lowered the motor. Made some shift adjustments. Bled the trim system again. Fixed the loose switches on my steering wheel. Put new rims and tires on it because it needed it bad. Lol.

Should be good for round two tonight

Well. Ran it up and down the river in 30mph winds and 2' rollers. The boat is so balanced and has so much power now. I can't believe how well it handles now. Never got above 70 though. It was really blown out and I couldn't find any stretches to stay in it. It's a handful at idle in the keys. It idles so fast. I gotta see if I can turn it down. I tried but then it stalled on me. Then the steering is so tight which is great when your hauling ass but hard in the keys for sure. It's a drivers boat. Especially shifting when it's not running. My primer bulb failed at some point. So Im going to eliminate it. It has a fuel pump in the boat and I it's really redundant. Try again tomorrow after I run a new fuel line. Hopefully the wind is gone. What a fun project. The motor sounds so nasty. IMG_3041.jpg

That was about 6k Max. I never legged it long enough to generate more speed. I was the only one on the river this evening. Lol.

It's a 280 right? Those don't have primer bulbs typically. What steering are you running? My Cyclone idled fine with a 24 but if you had the 26 on there, I could see that going a bit fast.

Yes 280. Ok I'm going to ditch it.

Sea Star. It wasn't as bad before the CRT deal. I hate it now. I may pull the CRT kit off.

I have only driven the sea star with the electric pump. That's bitchin but rather spends I believe. I had Imco with a capilano helm. It was rather tough at idle speeds too. If you ditch the crt, maybe try the blinker style?? Just an option.

Maybe I'm just not used to outboard steering. It's certainly different than my I/O. That takes little to no effort. I'm not giving up on it yet. I have a blinker off a boat I out a jack plate on and put the double blinker on. Lol. I may soak the CRT in WD 40 since the inside spins and outside stays stationary.

Joe told me to ditch the primer bulb. I should have listened. It could have been a dangerous mistake.

Well the primer bulb is an easy fix at this point. Hopefully you can leg that thing out this weekend. Curious to hear results.

Try something other than WD40. That will simply remove some of the lubricant and will later cause things to be less "Freed up." I would look towards a penetrant oil or even something with a white lithium grease if you can find that. I gave up on WD40.

There was an old electric pump in the Howard (235 Johnson), with no primer bulb. Don't plan on putting one back in once we finish the fuel lines either. So you should be OK without it.

Thanks for the updates although I'm bummed with your struggles. Supposed to windy all weekend so be careful. Head up to Castle Rock Shores. Hopefully then the wind will be behind you and you'll get a mile or two of smoother water. ;)

Sending the entire setup back so they can look at it. I'll run the blinker for the weekend.

CRT is fixed. I drilled out the hole for the dowel pin, GT said if it's binding there it won't work. He was right. Lol. Boat is getting better. Now I can play with some props.

I'm holding the phone. Sorry for the shitty quality. That's was difficult. Lol.

Gotta install a kill switch. It was on my old shifter handle. I'll put one in tomorrow. I'd hate to get pitched and run over. Gonna raise the motor up a half inch and try again.

I didn't set the app correctly but I saw 79. It will record your top speed but I guess I never started it over. Maybe more? Fast enough to start the skin wobble. Lol.

I love this boat. I can't believe how well it rides. Neutral trim. It's so flat. You see a roller Abd stab it, it's like driving a vdrive. Pops right over the roller and nose stays level. The balance is perfect.

Interior is all done. New foam. Saved the stripes and logo. Had the boat color sanded and buffed. It's coming along nicely. All the rest of the gauges should be here any day. IMG_3630.jpg IMG_3631.jpg IMG_3631.jpg IMG_3634.jpg IMG_3632.jpg IMG_3633.jpg
