I am located in Lake Havasu City! Would love to come take a look at what you've got.

Looking for a walk-thru open-bow Hallett 240 or 255.

Message me if you've got one that has been stored indoors, is in decent running condition and know that it will be well taken care of.

Budget is flexible for the right boat!

Thanks buddy, from what I've gathered it might be a long road ahead.

I've narrowed my search to a 240, which doesn't make the search much easier!
255 is the same bottom, integrated swim step. They come up for sale more often.

Assuming they handle the same, why is is they come up for sale more often?

Exactly the same. They just do.

Why are you after a boat that you have never been in or driven?

Just curious, why 1995? Is that a hard number or you just don’t want “really old”?

I've been in and driven a 210 and loved it, just want a little more room and a little bit longer of a boat for Parker and Havasu.

Love the look and quality of Hallett.

Just don't want anything "really old" or dated.
The 240 is a classic and will always be in demand. To tell you the truth I couldn’t tell the difference between a 1990 or a 2000 🤷🏻‍♂️ I personally love the 240 and was looking for one to buy when I come across my 255. I wouldn’t rule out the 255, I’m glad I didn’t

I found a '97 240 for sale, 502 with 800+ engine hours on it. Could it have been stored outdoors?

Wondering how much paint/gel, interior and an engine rebuild would run me. Seemed to have a little discoloration between the floor panels on the grout lines.

Some of the controls on the steering column looked weathered and the trailer looked a little rough too.

I knocked on the transom and it sounded solid. Overall the boat looks ok but I'm just unsure what it'd cost to get it back to tip-top shape.

These are my guesses... What is it listed for?

What about the trailer? Wheel bearings/breaks, bunks. 2.5k
New interior and teak with sub floor 15-18k
Engine/drive. 12-15k
Gel 3-5K

Listed right around $30K ... I'll keep this one in mind and just continue the search.

Grout lines?? hahaha

The floor is teak and holly plywood/laminate. In the one pic it looks past saving. 25k max, 25k in to make it right and you will have a boat to enjoy for many years.

Yeah, it might be a little more project than what I'm prepared to sign up for. If I had a shop that would take it in and get it all done, I might consider putting an offer on it.

Hopefully this off-season will turn up a couple more!

I think I seen you posting on the Hallett owners group on FB. If not give that a try or check with @Outdrive1 I think he had a couple 255s for sale.

Yeah, searching high and low. Also starting to look at Howard, like the 22' Offshore. Those look great too!

If you can get a deal on it then it could work out.... @Detaildan7777 restores Halletts. He had a 240 there this morning getting the works....

Good luck with the search. We have a 210 and a 255. It seems more 255's come around for sale. I would search 2002 and newer if Merc powered as they should be Smartcraft compatible. As Paul @BUDMAN said keep active on FB Hallett owners page. Also show up in person (register) for Halletts in Havasu @Hammer. Talk with the owners.

Yeah, seems I just missed the recent HIH and the videos looked great. I'd love something built 2002 or later, but that would probably command a much higher price.

SmartCraft seems like a cool system, maybe if I get an older boat I can eventually upgrade to that later on.

What was the last year Hallett made the 240?

There are quite a few 210's out there, a couple 250's but I've only seen two different 240's so far. One was in rough shape and the other has a seller that is having a hard time letting go.

Only thing I've seen that is similar is the Howard 22' Offshore...

I'm using these photos as inspiration of what I'm going for. These are just gorgeous boats!

The Howard 22 Offshore has an 8 foot beam versus the Hallett 240 at 8.5 feet. To me the Howard 22 is lake a longer Hallet 210. Love the lines of the Howard

As Jay Dub alluded to, the interior feel of the Howard 22 and the Hallett 240 are not similar. @OldSchoolBoats could probably give more insight.

The bottom too? I thought the top deck was retooled to included the swim step but the hull was the same.
Top deck for sure. Bottom they probably retooled to save money. A foot longer, and integrated swim step.

Got it. Didn’t know they extend the bottom too. Guess I haven’t looked to hard at the 255 don’t really care for the lines.

The 22 Offshore is a night and day difference from the 240, both in interior space and handling. The 22 Offshore is a much more narrow boat (just like all Howards) than the 240. The 240 is much wider making it much more stable at speed (no chine walk) and much more room inside. We now have a 255 Hallett and it is insane how roomy it is, even with it being a mid cabin open bow. Very comfortable boat, easy to drive and crushes everything.

Not saying I would never own another Howard again, but someone might have to pry this 255 from my cold dead hands.

How fast could you safely push a 240? Reliably is a different discussion.

I guess I was misinformed. How much longer ?
Yeah first I have heard this. Guess I need to measure my 255 to one of my neighbors 240. I can tell you, bottom looks the same minus the added length for the integrated step.

They take a lot of power to get moving. I think like 900+ to get into the honest 90s

While you're at it... Ask one of those neighbors if they'd like to sell their 240! :D

As mentioned, they ride awesome and with tabbing I trust running mine through really rough water.
