Still have my 1985...........

it started out as a hobby, 2nd vehicle to the LHC house, & 4x4 to use on the trails around LHC. Tried to use it to tow our Nordic Heat, the tongue weight made the steering sort of twitchy.........had Deaver rework / modify the rear springs & it got a little better.

For the pontoon it worked great. With the Cobalt, again the tongue weight (its about 100# more then the Nordic).
It will move the bigger boats around, with ease. But not a proper(safe) tow vehicle.

Its never left us stranded.

What gears? Did that yr hv var venturi carb? Had an 82 that was a complete dog/pos.Also.I tried an tried to blow up my 92 pulling the grade on hwy 168 towing my boat.Pedal mashed to floor(was getting tranny rebuilt on my SD)NoWayJose...Also survived the 2nd biggest recorded snowfall in HighSierras.A beast of reliability.Indefuknstructable.I strongly disagree with the " tons of room in backseat area" Sure.If u midget.I HATED detailing/cleaning that area.Total PITA entry/exit..

I will offer one counter point to those who had the vapor lock issue. First, I don't deny they had a problem. But....I've got a 1995 with over 180,000 miles I've had for 21 years. I've NEVER had vapor lock. Ever. I've towed all over SoCal, Parker, Havasu, Mohave, Mead all the way to the midwest and back (6,000 mile trip towing) not one vapor lock issue. Summer or winter, no problem. Perhaps 93's had an issue. My 95 does not and has not.

Is the most robust (power wise)?....No

Does it keep working? Yes.

Feed it gas and it runs. My biggest issue is it loves to go through heater cores. 4 to date. Saving grace is that it's about a 45 minute job and costs $20.

My 1987 goes through about a heater core every other year. Glad to k ow it's not just me[emoji106]

Good! I thought mine was possessed! :D I think the real problem is all the heater cores are junk these days. Can't get an OEM Ford replacement.

Love Broncos and have had 3 1980, 1989, and now a 94.
You can always switch the electronic transfer to manual. It's a job but not that bad.
There are some newer 92--96 with manual transfer case.
Go fast Broncos
Full size bronco are some great sites.

Good luck.

Problem solved....

Pretty excited after looking and looking I ended up going in a different direction and pretty excited with my new to me purchase.

Found a good deal on a 2012 F150 4x4 Platinum. It's been like Christmas at my house for me. I have already installed tow brackets, tow bar, wiring, and tow brakes for her maiden voyage to Desert Storm this weekend.

Word of advice - if anyone is ever in the market of setting up a tow vehicle behind a motor home, look around on Craigslist, eBay, and Amazon. I found most of my stuff that was lightly used and paid a lot less than I would have had I bought everything brand new.
