Looking for an used or new 24” BMX bike. They are going for stupid money on EBay. Anyone have one they would sell and ship?

Tired of chasing the kids on foot.

Thanks

He has some REALLY high dollar vintage stuff. Try Craigslist, stuff on there all the time( in this area anyway). Unless your looking for something rare and special, then Tank has it. Have you checked out the SE Bikes website? They have some cool stuff, PK’s and Quad’s.

Search for a dirt jumper too. If you’re not looking to race, a DJ will get you the BMX geometry with 26/27.5/29 wheels and a suspension fork/disc brakes. Way more comfortable to cruise around with the kids. I have a 24” cruiser for track days and it’s a little too aggressive for chasing my son.

Huge shortage of bikes right now. Kids are home because of COVID, parents are tired of the kids lounging on the couch, so they have bought bikes in a big way. I would recommend the Big Ripper 29”, but if your looking at 24” there are plenty of other options. About the only bikes I was able to find was Kink’s at Bike Bling. Hood luck!

I have bid on a few SE bikes. None of the bike shops have them and don’t know when they will be getting them. SE SoCal flyer sells for $479 on their website, but you have to go through a dealer. I bid on a couple up to $600 plus shipping.

I like old school stuff and I like what the new company’s are doing with old school like the 26” GT performer
Or the Mach One Pro 24 at only $375
Is hard to beat.

haro builds a nice 24 for under $400 but a bit heavy.

redline has always built great stuff and offer a great 24

But i sold most my old school stuff and stuck with SE stuff (currently have a mini ripper for my 6 y/o, a PK ripper for my 11 y/o and a 24 quad angle, 24 global flyer and a 24 Profile for me. I’m a fan and always have been of SE bikes. They’re made in Asia now but the jigs and designs are still American and they’re lead by Americans and honestly they build quaility is still top notch and they build some crazy cool stuff. Bang for the buck is crazy too.

You may want to consider a 26” bike FYI. They’re kinda quasi beach cruiser / mountain bike / Bex bike. But comfy is the goal.

you could also go straight up gangsta and go big old school ordering a new 24” Hutch! I will be doing that in the future. I’ve always loved hutch and have owned 4 or 5 20’s an3 24 old school 80’s bikes. One of my favorite. But the new stuff is not on the cheap. Of course they are made in USA.

Thanks Tank. My problem is that I am only 5’ 5” ish. A 20” is a little tight. And bigger than 24” is big.

24 will do you right. Lots of options but frankly you can’t go wrong with SE.

And if You search around a bit a mid to late 90’s PK ripper XLwould probablybe a VERY good fit for you and be old school cool. But you’ll pay a grand for one. I rode one in my early 20’s and I was 6’ but I ran a laid back seat on it.

My garage currently it ebse and flows but this has been the past couple years. At one time I probably had 20 80’s BMX bikes in my garage. Hutch, Patterson, GT, Kuwahara, CW, Race Inc. Patterson, Redline, SE...basically I tried to get at least one bike or frame from each of the big guys of the 80’s.

x2 , great bike. Bought one to chase my kids around. Didn’t take long for me to crash and burn trying to show my kids how I used to do it. Surprisingly the concrete is real smooth at the Havasu skate park . 😁

You are in a bind right now with covid people are buying everything up.
A lot of the company’s are waiting for the new models to come out. 2021s are about to come out.
Danscomp
Or the house has a good selection.

I buy my bikes locally. Just dropped 370 on my daughters bike.
We frequent skateparks so she need something to keep up

So with about 4 SE bikes sitting in boxes in the garage now is the time to sell. I might be able to get that 255 Speedster now. Yesssss

I bought a Model C for chasing my kids around. It feels super cramped for a 24 with the bottom bracket so high. It was super fun for ripping around though. I sold it and ended up with a 26. I am 5' 8".

Ride before you buy if possible. The geometry of the bike plays a huge role in comfort.

My brother and I got our first bmx bikes at Big Wheel Bicycles. Christmas of '77.

Magnums Strokers, by Two Wheelers. Heavy azz bikes, even back in the day.

A blue one and a burgundy one.
I still have mine. Probably not worth anything now.

Big Wheel Bicycles was further south on Pioneer Blvd, near the old Rexall drug store.

My son rides the model C, hes 6' and used to it. I agree, I'm not a fan of modern geometry, I ride a 29" Bassett custom I built with more traditional geometry. Very comfortable.

Yep, I also have a 26" Electra Beach Cruiser and put side by side with my 26" "BMX", the geometry is really close to the same. 26+" BMX are for old guys (like me) that are fighting the clock.

Electra Straight 8, 24"x3" Fatty-O tires, 3 speed rear wheel with coaster brake. Might as well look cool riding it. Little heavy though.

Like money wise? Well, I like to put my bikes together piece by piece so it costs more. I bought the frame and forks on Craigslist and them built them up. With the profile I built it from all new parts but wanted it to be completely profile so EVERYTHING except crupi peddles, brakes and tires are Profile. I have redline flight cranks on both my 24’s SE’s. Part of the fun for me is searching for the parts and buying them. The 24 Profile I have is about 2k. Probably have a grand into each of the 24 SE’s. Probably $800 into each the mini ripper and PK Ripper. I found the PK on Craigslist and it was BEAT TO SHIT. Had my son strip it down, clean it and help put it back together.

when I rode in the 80’s as a kid I was a straight GT, Hutch and PK rider. When I got back into collecting and building in the 90’s I frankly couldn’t afford a JMC. I did have a GJS for a while. Super rare. Great bike. I’d love to have a JMC though.
I’d also like to get an original 24” Santa Ana GT. At one point I had about 10 built bikes and probably 15 frame and forks in the garage I’d tinker with. But I live on the beach and keeping up with the chrome was difficult. I sold off pretty much everything except my 24 profile (late 90’s bike). Then bought the SE’s later.

like I said though. Next bike I buy will be the new Hutch. Things are just insanely bad ass.

That is bad ass. They sell the Hutch cranks and pedals? When I was building my old Webco I was looking for as much NOS old school stuff as I could find, or afford I should say. By far, the Hutch stuff was the most expensive. Anything NOS Bullseye was spendy too. I’m Jonesing for a new Big Ripper.

I almost bought a Big Ripper from the local bike store a year or so ago because he was trying to get rid of it. Could've had it for $450 I think. I just didn't need another bike at the time.

The mini Ripper I have for my 6 y/o has NOS Bullseye hubs! Love those things.

You can get new built old school designed hutch cranks and peddles. NOT cheap! But they're made in the US off the old jigs.

Heres a couple pics of some of the stuff I had over the years.

I saw the frame fork set you posted, not bad at $500, but the cranks have to be big coin.

Aero speed 3 piece cranks are $600. Standard 3 piece $300. Hutch pedals $189 for chrome. $150 anodized colors.

to do a top of the line build on a new 24” hutch it’ll be 3k plus.

Surprisingly I never had a ton of BMX bikes as a kid. Got in to road cycling so young I only had a few. Bought a Bassett last year in a 26" and sold it to a young guy who paid me more for it than I paid. Now now looking at their 29er when I get ahead here in the next year. Love their quality

Probably more than you want to spend, but they do have completes once in a while for under a grand.

Lol I should have kept them all
Dude me too! I sold the bike for $600 built with the cranks. I didn’t realize they were worth probably a grand easily. And then, the dude just bought it broke a crank! And then got the bike taken by the police because there was no serial number. Bike had been re chromed and serial number was gone. But I bought the bike used from a bike store so it was legit.

S&M is doing a limted run big cruiser with the cooks bros look. It looks awesome. Made in USA too, like Craig Turners and Bassetts.

I have a 2013 Haro Pro 24 for $400
Lightly used. It’s been hanging up in my garage.
