This weekend our oldest daughter, husband and son flew from NYC to CHI to attend a wedding. For me NYC - CHI, is like going from Compton to TJ. Just not my kind of thing. Wedding was an all out 3 day event, marriage of a long time family friend. On Sunday the bride and groom rented the Budweiser Patio at the Cubs game for all the wedding guests. Our daughter is not a baseball fan at all. But, she wanted to go to visit with the bride, family and friends etc. Private full bar and food for the guests. This Budweiser Patio is in the corner of right field, under the scoreboard, in fair territory. 2nd inning, Cubs batter hits a home run right into their Budweiser Patio. Daughter said they watched the ball rise up then head straight at them. She ducked, SIL tried to catch it, hit his hands and another wedding guest was able to grab it. Lots of excitement. But the day wasn't over. Our daughter opted to move up a bit and sit at a high boy table and chairs and visit with old friends, as she did friggin’ needle point and enjoyed some wine. 4th inning, Cubs at bat, Mike Busch smacks a Home Run. Over the right field fence and again straight into their Budweiser Patio. That ball struck our daughter directly on her ass, as she sat there with her back to the field, chatting, sipping wine etc. Fortunately she wasn’t hurt, just a bruise. (today she says it is the size & shape of a baseball. no surprise there. and she refuses to send photos). But, the day still isn’t over. Now we’re in the later innings. Between innings the Cubs outfielders are throwing balls around as they commonly do. When they’re done, Cubs right fielder, Mike Tauchman, tossed a ball up to the fans in the stands behind him. You can probably guess where it landed . . . . . Directly into the Budweiser Patio and right onto our daughter’s table, knocked over a large cup of water, which splash all over our daughter. No serious damages, just lots of laughter. Our daughter said, Dad I was just glad that damn ball didn’t knock over my glass of wine. The ball then rolled down to other wedding guests below who grabbed hit. 3 balls, one which hit her and she wasn’t able to grab any of them. But, a while back at a NY Yankees game a ball did land directly into her large purse and remained there. She kept that one. Her 11 yr old son, said - Mom, when you go to a MLB game its like you’re playing Dodge Ball.

FWIW, said the area of Chicago they were in was nice, better than many places in NYC. Saw a few homeless, but that was it.

Amazing what people do on weekends. Fly NYC/Chicago ,wedding reception Wrigley Field Budweiser Patio. Definition of Class & Good Friends. 👍
Yes, this was a group of young, very hard working and successful people. We‘re very proud of our daughters. We’ve known the bride and her family since she was about 3.
