motor and trans is one thing, but its all the rest of the crap id be worried about, suspension parts, steering parts, door hinges, switches etc. all the little things that are super annoying when they fail all have 500k on them too.

which if you are buying from the og owner that actually takes care of his shit, most of those have been fixed. having taken several work trucks in to that range. I am at the point now where after a point I reaplace every thing that's not metal.

stops 95% of the probs.

every single car/truck I have driven into the ground has been killed by failed smog tests. makes me so happy I don't have smog here. if I didn't have a idi diesel I would so buy older ford with a 351w and rip off all the smog crap and tune it right.

I wouldn't worry too much at only 135k miles. If you want to feel better replace the alternator and belt. The alternators usually go out about 150k miles and that can leave you stranded if it fails. Other than that most other things go out slow and you hear them coming on and you can fix them.

Thanks, I have replaced the belt a few times already. Things that I have done:

* Rear Air Bag Shocks
*Rear Compressor
*Heat\Cold Mixer Valves
*Dash Lights Fixed (Blubs)
*New Blower

Guess I cant complain, it has the typical cold start rattle on the top, but I have heard all my buddies trucks do the same:thumbsup

Still shopping for dually's. Originally wanted a mid 90's to 2k bodystyle. Came across this guy... looks SUPER clean and in great shape. But holy cow batman thats a LOT of mileage. Price is obviously good as well. What i dont see is the drivers seat... after that many miles its gotta be pretty worn and its just about the only thing they didnt take a picture of.

If the guy were selling a plane it would be "all new."

The last "all new" plane I looked at was built in 66.

That's very unusual for these trucks. The guy before must have.

Again..... Nope. Was with him when he drove it off the dealers lot. He's the Orig owner. Only has a bit over 80K on it. Has had the ejectors, and bunch of other stuff go out on it. a NEW truck would be nice, but 70K for a replacement is a big chunk of cash.

You'd loose that bet. Stock 2wd dually.

I have a guru for Duramax's in SD/Escondido that is amazing and affordable. Eg. Injectors on an LB7 is $2900.:thumbsup.

If he needs a better mechanic, let me know and I'll hook you up.

Man that sucks for him. Sounds like he got a lemon.
I had an 04' I sold to a friend at 100k he ran it to 400k with only wheel hubs and water pump was changed. I changed a injector tube housing and driver side rear wheel bearing. It was lifted 11" on 38's
My 08' has got 189k and I've done both wheel hubs once and breaks once.
6" lift on 33's

If it would pass a legit smog test with decent numbers I would be okay with it. Assuming of course no other red flags upon inspection and test drive. Price is right.

For 5K, that's a lot of truck. Remember that GM went after the Fords SD lunch with that truck, they were built well and had options not available on the SD's. IIRC, that should have an HVAC filter inside the truck, similar to BMW's of that era. The Allison transmission is bullet proof as long as it's not behind a chipped diesel and beaten like a rented mule.
