After today, I would contend the 95 miles of I-40 East between Kingman, AZ and Ash Fork, AZ is the most horrendous I’ve driven in a long time. What say all ye gentlemen?
I managed to snap a strap on a snowmobile coming back to PHX from flag this year...17 nearing flagstaff by Munds is atrocious...

The 10 east to Blythe is especially bad with a trailer. The straps holding the boat down to the trailer get a workout.

That section of I-40 is bad... But nothing compared to the chaos that is I-10 in Louisiana. Pretty sure I had 8 tires off the ground simultaneously (Chevy 2500 and a 28' enclosed trailer), and know I have been on better maintained dirt roads.

Agree!, we traveled to Williams, Flag, and Sedona in April over Spring break and I-40 was a fucking nightmare. We saw several people pulled over on the side of the road that had blowouts on their trucks and trailers. I lost two center caps on my motorhome it was a game of Bob and weave.

Huntington Beach city streets are a total embarrassment.
I'm 100% convinced the city uses the cheapest paving contractors on the planet.

The 15 through Utah up by SLC is brutal and should be a contender.

haha you guys think those roads are bad. Try the 10 through NM. It is a night and day difference as soon as you cross the border.

I think any downtown street is pretty terrible no matter where you are.

Agreed
We always take Rt 66 . Get off the 40 in Kingman and you get back on the 40 almost to Ashfork
About 20 miles further but the scenery and no traffic makes it worthwhile.
Heading to Williams in just a few

I-70 from Glenwood to Eisenhower Tunnel is dangerous, also. We kept thinking how glad we were to be in the truck and not the motorhome. Interstate infrastructure is just too costly, I guess.

That stretch is horrible. I've been on it a lot the past 6 months and seen multiple cars with flat tires, roll overs and I think it killed my front-end suspension on my car.

Headed to Powell in about a week, I think I saw someone suggest another route to avoid that section of the 40 (maybe the 66?). It sucked last year for our trip too, its obviously gotten worse. Thanks for the reminder. I need to take another close look!

No one wants to talk about the 71 near Chino, that is some pretty jacked up freeway, even by CA standards. @DWC ?

71 is bad but no way worse than the 40, especially the road from Kingman east. Holy shit. I drove it in a rental car and was flinching. I should have checked what tires the car had on it. No clue how they made it through

The big question is why we are being punished by our government like this , it is obviously on purpose .

Just rolled thru that area with my motorhome...total shit roads. Was thinking at what point is the State responsible for damage to vehicles or accidents caused by road conditions? I'll give you the HWY 40 total shit conditions, but will up you to HWY 70 pretty much as soon as you leave Utah all the way thru Denver, no only treturous, but the worse road conditions I've ever seen, IMO flat out dangerous. It's a work out with a 40ft pusher going thru that area.

Yeah and whats weird is they repave it every few years. They are doing it now.

The other forever-shit road is highway 89 with the whoops in the road on the way to Powell north and south of the turn off to Tuba city.

Funds diverted to lobbyist pet billion dollar projects, the last 4 years of monumental waste, war, bloated government staffing and salaries all come to mind

3 out of 5 of us broke or cracked our hitches on 89 coming back from corral pink sand dunes 3 years ago. It is whooped out road and has been like that forever.

You have to wonder who’s in charge of maintaining these roads? That road to Powell has me on the edge of my seat just waiting for the trailer to snap every time I go up there towing that boat.

Corrupt politicians can skim a lot more $$$ from the Ukraine war funding than from any infrastructure project
