Interesting!

50 cited and only four arrests.

Items of non-necessity stolen have been returned to store.

I heard home depot lost a million to theft locally. They just re did the self check out at the Torrance location. You would think they would eliminate self checkout with that amount of loss.

They still have the most employees sitting around creating another loss. I was just in there and 6 employees just hanging out from when I went in to when I left. I did say something to them. Same ones I see regularly not doing shit. And when you ask them for something they are clueless.

I noticed that at mine too. Removed all check outs and replaced with self check out. The only exception was of Lumber check out. They were closed as I was in there late evening.

Lowe’s it is till they convert too.

Nothing like one associate trying to help 6-9 customers having self checkout issues. I’m pretty calm individual but that makes me feel like going postal.

I don’t get it. Eliminate self checkout and put everyone through normal kiosks. It’s faster anyways.

I’m not kidding when I say I’ve seen full carts just walk right out the door.

Friends Brother is a tweeker. I see him at lowes and HD all the time. And he is not buying anything. They make it to easy for them and wonder why they have so much theft. Home Depot has at least 10 to many employees pretending to work any given day. None know shit about there department except for paint. The regular paint employees at the 3 home depots I frequent weekly are great. I usually only go to HD if I need paint. Few other items otherwise it's Lowes 20-1. I know almost every Lowes employee by name at both Torrance locations. Only 1 at Torrance HD is Mac in paint. And that guy doesn't talk much. But after a few years and me yelling at him what's up every time I see him. He has come out of his shell. Few of the ladies there know me. But they are in sales and trying to win my business. The rest I see all the time and they give 2 shits.

Customer service at most the supply houses is excellent and all first name basis. Talk to the managers and owners regularly and they don't have theft issues.

Lowes is converting to all self check out also. Except contractor check out. Contractor check out. The Cashiers are great at both Torrance locations. Can't say enough good things about them. Although I ruffle there feathers often to keep them on there toes and working fast and efficiently. Yes I speak my mind to all the assistant managers about each employee good or bad. Few are straight lazy as fuck including the assistant managers. They know it.

Local Walmart just added more self checkouts and is down to maybe having two normal lanes open if it's busy. Now they have the receipt checker people at the doors all the damn time. I am usually polite and let them do their thing, but the other day the lady in front of me was asked for her receipt and she just said "FUCK OFF!"

Made me giggle...😏

We got nailed a few years ago at the havasu Walmart. Idk why but I throw receipts away.

So I threw it away and the guy at the door was ready to throw down. I showed him my phone with the credit card transaction. Wasn’t good enough.

It got escalated all the way to the manager coming to meet me and us going back to a computer where he could verify the purchase.

Meanwhile im sure $1,000 walked out the door.

I don't see how they can stay in business with the amount of theft reported for the last two years. 🤯

In previous quarters, Target said that inventory shrinkage — mostly the theft of merchandise — would cut profits by $500 million this year. In 2022, profits took a $700 million hit from the issue.

have a coworker that used to work in HD loss prevention. He mentioned that the move is not to actually steal the stuff, it's to grab the most expensive thing you can carry and walk to the front and do a no-receipt return, they issue a gift card for the amount, then they can go sell that gift card for 80c on the dollar to someone who will actually use it, and they get cash. He's been out of that world for quite a while now, not sure if something changed to close that loophole.

It shouldn’t be
While I agree 1000% I do have compassion for those who are legitimately hungry or thirsty.

We can’t/shouldn’t spend billions in Ukraine while not feeding our own people.

If you’re stealing TVs fuck you.

Self checkout machines can loose $30+ per hour or $450 in a 15 hr day due to theft and still be cheaper than a live employee with payroll, taxes, insurance, medical, management, training, hr etc.

Nope, they changed it. A few things are different like they won’t take returns over 30 days, must have a drivers license for the return, drivers licenses are limited to three returns without a receipt and the biggest change is that the store credit cards can only be used by the same drivers license. This avoids people selling the store credit cards they get from returning stolen stuff.
The rules are a little different for us contractors like on returns without receipts because everything is in their system.

A site is also an arrest... It's an arrest in the field, issued a "notice to appear" (ticket) and released in the field if they qualify

But no worries, Newsome and his law makers have been working on the 14 bill "Theft and Drug Package" most the year...

Sacramento only did that, because Target was going to close all stores in the area. The nuisance fine the DA tried to pull was BS

If someone is legitimately hungry, there are more than enough soup kitchens, foods banks etc. These crooks are trying to a buck to get high. No sympathy for the street rats.

My point is the that no citizen should go hungry/thirsty in this country.

We piss in the wind enough money to cover hunger in this country.

We throw out enough food in this country (personal as well as restaurants) that we could feed all our homeless like kings if they wouldn’t mind leftovers.
