My guess it you may have issue using traditional resins because of their solvent properties.

However with epoxy resins, you'd have no problem. Something like West System 105/207 ultra clear.

However you need to use a very good UV topcoat, like a urethane or poly urethane as epoxy resin itself does not fair well in UV

What was used originally on the Spectras, over the faux woodgrain?

There is a thread on RDP somewhere where an inmate used a cherry Stealth Veil on the floors of a v-drive restoration. I can't seem to find it for the life of me, but the lamination process was similar to balsa inlays except the veil was put in place with spray contact adhesive IIRC. I believe the work was done with poly or vinyl ester resin and clear coated with Duratec clear.

The Dixxon Flannel Eliminator also used Stealth Veils for the plaid inlays.

I mean, I know the faux woodgrain was Pacalon but what did they use over it? (Well, under it in the mold)
