winter (holiday) travel getaway ideas

considering not doing the traditional things this year and instead going some place warm and sunny.

hawaii is always a fav, but between their covid BS still in place and the high cost of going during the holidays, I'm ruling that out.

sdoes the brain trust here have any ideas are cool places they have been between xmas and new years? really only considering the Continental US are maybe mexico.

Usually go to Cabo area for the Holidays, but before Christmas week unless you want to enjoy Mexico with 30,000 of your friends from the US.

We usually go visit my step-daughter and her family in Prescott, Arizona. Not going this year since my other step-daughter is coming in from Alaska for Christ,as. We may do a day trip to Ventura, Santa Barbara or Solvang.

Loreto (Baja). Easy direct flight on Alaska from SoCal. VRBO / AirBNB or a hotel. It ain't Maui / Kauai but there's 2 golf courses (1 very nice / 1 not very nice) and the weather is pretty decent. Taco's are cheap and there's a lot more to see and do than you might think. I keep trying to get my wife to go back but her Holiday Heart always wants to reside in Maui.

Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach Florida. Just outside Jacksonville. Very laid back, great little downtown with lots of places to eat/drink. Several top name resorts as well as condo rentals. One of our favorite spots.

We are in Puerto Vallarta right now and the weather is spectacular. Ocean temp perfect for swimming. Did South Padre Island a couple Januarys ago and it was chilly windy and not swim water. Baja Sur also nice this time of year.
