Easy drive I have done it in my company car when I had one. But you need to start in Drake on the 89 head east to the road.

My plan is late July I will do this...
It’s definitely toasty in Jerome in July. Once you are ten miles out of Williams you are out of the trees and shade and back to desert and junipers. Still doable that time of year, just plenty warm.

Since I will be by myself (and the wife) I don't think I will go all the way. Maybe Perkinsville bridge.

November? My calendar is pretty full till then.

Is there gas in Jerome?

Some very interesting history there from the early 1900's. 👀

No. Not last we visited.
We follow 89A down the mountain toward Cottonwood/Clarkdale.

A gas station, the Number One Food Store 755 AZ-89A, Clarkdale, AZ 86324 at the bottom hairpin turn at Cement Plant rd.

Several more in continuing into town are what we use. It's a fun run in a SXS, our favorite road both directions.

Bobby D's is our favorite in Jerome:

Just did this on Sunday. Multiple Options coming out of Williams.

Light blue down to the puple/pink split is asphalt. The purple trail down from there is mostly fun but there is about 10 miles that is painfully rocky LOL. We've done it 3 times and that's enough for me for a while. The pink trail is mostly asphalt. Not real exciting in a sxs.

If I had to do it round trip today I would probably do light blue-purple on the way South, then pink-purple-yellow on the way North. That would give you a mix of asphalt and dirt and be smoother on the way back. If you wanted almost all dirt you could cut out pink and light blue.

Another note, we tried to make it a loop by going through Cottonwood, then up Casner Mountain pass. Casner mountain is closed to vehicles over 62" wide unless you have a reservation. No way to get around either :/ Ended up being 160 miles round trip after back tracking back up through Cottonwood, Jerome and then to Williams.

There are limited N-S options up the hills and Casner Mtn looks rad, until you get to that big yellow gate LOL
