Has the government done their job well enough instilling fear that people are still wearing their masks as they are deathly scared of getting Covid? I went to the ATM yesterday and a couple of ladies were in a car and as one dropped the other one off in front of the ATM she put her mask on. This is outside. Public transportation still requires all riders to wear masks. Doctor's and dentist's offices still require masks to be worn. I see young kids out riding their bikes and skateboards wearing their masks. There's still young and middle aged adults wearing masks in the supermarkets. I was at Target yesterday to pick up an item I ordered as they shut down all but one or two cashiers and funnel everyone to the self service machines, and hate standing in line and the line for pickups is usually much shorter than the other lines. The girl at the counter (in her early 20's) was wearing a mask and I asked if corporate is still pushing you guys to wear masks. She said that it was a personal choice. I could easily tell you who she voted (if she voted), for president.

I do outside construction work and a few handfuls of young men are still wearing their masks. Back in 2018 I banned all of my crew from wearing face gaiters due to someone in the city of Industry getting killed from some guy who showed up at a construction wearing work clothes, PPE, bags, and tools wearing a face gaiter - he pulled a gun out of one of his bags shot someone dead point blank he dropped his bags and took off. They found his hard hat and vest, but that was it. Nobody knew who it was. Now with all this Covid BS paranoia, working in the ghetto part of San Bernardino, and now Torrance, I dread seeing the workers with these masks on, I have no idea who these people are anymore. I can't tell them not to wear them because I'll get blowback from their office and my HR department - it's for personal health reasons, the state of emergency for the state of California has not been lifted yet, blah, blah, blah.

Even my father-in-law who is 86 years old, in his younger days (5 years ago), would never put up with all these covid restrictions, now since his wife passed 3 years ago he's become a paranoid old man who is afraid to leave the confines of his house, he won't even go outside in the back yard due to the fact that if he gets covid he will die. He won't open his front door for anyone except for my wife's sister (who as she calls herself, his caretaker), even her other sister who is all vaxxed and boosted isn't allowed at the house. Neither my wife nor I are allowed over since we're not vaxxed, we're the devil and we're going catch it and die a terrible death. I'm sure there are thousands, if not millions that have drank this Kool-aid, and are in the same state of mind. He's too cheap to hook up to the internet (because they steal your credit information and rob you), so he's left watching basic cable and all he sees is the mainstream media blasting about dangers of the "new strains of covid" and how they are easily transferred, etc.

Will face masks ever become a thing of the past and will the world ever become "normal" again?

Until you can get everyone thinking for themselves and looking at things objectively, no. Look at the Chinese, or maybe even everyone from the greater South East Asian continent, they were wearing these same masks for YEARS before covid. I never saw an American or Canadian (lived in Vancouver for 5 years) ever wearing a mask out in public before covid, only people of assumed Asian origin based on me visually profiling them. I think a lot of it has to do with their population density and mass public transportation and then it becomes a habit/second nature even though we don't have the same densities in most of our cities in North America. If you were packed into a tube shoulder to shoulder to get anywhere, a mask is probably not a bad thing, but we all need to be honest with what the effectiveness of these cloth masks are. It would be really nice if the media would just come out and say what masks are and are not effective at protecting you from. In all reality, the masks everyone wears really only protects from large spit particles and not airborne or aerosolized viruses.

Simple answer is NO
A percentage of the population is scared of the ‘what if’ and 100% believe MSM only shares facts vs opinions.

look at is this way....Covid= govt spending.

when did any govt program EVER end?

so I would wager covid goes away when we have won the war on homelessness and all the spending that goes along with that.

Even if they did that, the hardcore mask wearers would just say that's the media, "you need to follow the science" and Dr. Fauci said masks are necessary.

Myself and my family are pure bloods. I almost never wore the mask. I think I did a few times early on for shopping and the bank, but only when asked nicely. Most of the time, I would just walk out of the store and go somewhere else.

I kinda like the mask. As my son say, you instantly know who the idiots are!

I'm in sales, so it points out who I want to work with and who to pass on to someone else.

Will we go back to normal....if trump gets back in, I think we could see a whole uprising in the US. If he doesn't, we are screwed anyways so whatever.

After the feeble goon in the White House survived Covid I really thought all of the paranoia would go away. Guess not.

When I see people with masks it annoys me, but then I remind myself that they may be immunocompromised or have a family member who is, so I just go on with my life, as it doesn't affect me.

People do all kinds of weird things, this is just one that is so physically right in your face, it's hard to get over if you are educated in the actual science. Is having faith that your mask protects you from covid any different from having faith there is a God and if you accept Jesus Christ as your savior your sins are washed away and you'll go to heaven when you die? Because there are millions, maybe billions of people on earth that have faith that the latter is true with absolutely zero scientific evidence. I believe everyone has a right to their own beliefs and faiths as long as it they don't impose their beliefs on my way of life. I also believe that everyone should be educated to make their own decisions and not propagandized on for political gain, power, & control.

My daughter called in sick today, sniffles and sore throat. Her manager wasn't answering, so she call the automated BS...10 days before she can come back! Her manager is now pissed, but she didn't answer and my daughter didn't want to be a no-show...

Shop I half-ass work at: Owner's son took a covid test last week, it was clear. Was going to come back today. His liberal, paranoid girlfriend took them both to be tested at some clinic today...work's stacked up...I'm the only "employee"...and I find it necessary to catch up on my correspondence on RDP right now.

Oh well, may as well turn a wrench now.

What gripes me are the ones that wear it voluntarily, but wear it under their nose. If you're going to wear it by choice, wear it correctly. Not that it does anything.

There is 0% chance Trump is re-elected. That would be the dumbest mistake the Republicans could make. People vote against candidates, not for them. I support him but he won't be our president again.

This.

It seems like every day I read a news article about local governments spending money they received from the trillions being given away by the Democrats.

The free money was not produced by the economy, it was simply printed by the US Treasury. In most cases, there are cutoff dates attached to the handouts, all but guaranteeing it will be spent in a reckless manner to beat deadlines. This is one of the major causes of inflation.

If you're interested in understanding the vast scope of fraud that has stolen billions from the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, this document produced by Arnold & Porter, a prestigious law firm with offices all over the world, provides the names of persons that have been indicted for various federal crimes and the amount of money involved.

It's 71 pages long.

Man that's a tough one, I personally would not be OK with it but I get respecting your daughter's opinion. At 11 though I would tend to think it may be to fit in with a certain group? If she is truly that self-conscious about her face maybe see if you can help her overcome that?

Nope

funny story from last week. A family we've known (not close, more acquaintance) the mom is super covid paranoid, N95 everywhere etc, probably didn't leave the house for a year. They registered their kid at our kids private school last year, which was known for being in person and very very lax on the mask thing. Her kid was maybe 1 out of 5 kids that wore masks all year, legit had a tanline from the mask. She's vaxxed and boosted, kid is vaxxed and boosted etc. So last week she gets the Rona for the first time (everything is shared on facebook) she's posting about it daily etc.... yet on Friday it was the back to school bash party with bounce houses, DJ, color run etc etc... we're walking through the parking lot, and there she is, coming to the party with covid.... but she had her mask on of course. People have abolutely lost their minds, and it's a very slim chance the general public will ever be back to normal.

I hope this to be the case, but day by day it seems more likely he will run. I didn’t think he would run a year ago, but I didn’t think Biden would screw up so much so quickly and effectively.

Much rather see DeSantis run and win with Trump still doing what he is doing.

I kinda like the idea that if someone feel sick, or knows they are sick....that they SHOULD wear a mask. I appreciate not being made sick by some careless buffoon sneezing on me. I hate having a cold, or covid.

But the weirdos walking alone down the sidewalk, or driving their own car wearing a mask is just idiocy.

I only wore a mask when I had to. I also caught Covid twice, so there's that.

We do some business with a couple companies in China and they came to our plant a few years back (pre-covid). I asked them about the masks after seeing pics and so many Asians wearing them at Disneyland. They told me they wear them at home due to the poor air quality or smog. They were amazed how clear the air was in northern Nevada and that they could see mountains.

Trump is an ego maniac. I liked what he tried to accomplish and most of his policies but he ran originally as a FU to obama and now he is 100x more pissed.

I'm not sure if Trump will win because he is too polarizing and will cause the world to loose it's mind again. Desantis is the smart play but I don't think he will or should tangle in the primaries with Trump. Wait 4 years and smash Newsome.

But to answer the original question...Nope people are different now and it's not getting better.

"Start acting normal"
Well, that is really a matter of perspective. We've all heard the BS "New Normal". Some of us did things we had to, for family reasons or work. Me, not so much. I haven't done much differently the past couple years. What is normal for me, is probably abnormal for others. I never cared for crowds, and always tried to stay 6ft from strangers...but that was by choice, not decree.

So, "normal" to me is being an anti-social asshole...yep, still acting normal. The rest of you F'rs are weirdos 😂

I saw a lady yesterday out side of peach springs AZ walking along the highway by herself in 100deg heat with a mask on. Turned and looked at my wife and together we both said, "makes no sense, so sad".

If Trump could stop the self inflicted wounds for 18 months, he’d actually have something.

I was casually wondering if he stays out of the Primaries and goes in a Trumps VP.

It is gonna get entertaining if it comes down to those 2 on the R side and a circus on the other side, because it won’t be Kamala.

I still have a mask in my truck, (The blue disposable type) The center is completely stained with Copenhagen. Whenever there was a sign "Mask required" I always got a good laugh to myself before going in. .

The looks were absolutely priceless 🤣

I think desantis would be playing career suicide to hitch his wagon to trumps.

Just hang back and keep doing his thing in florida and wait for the right time.

If trump wins it scares the crap out of me because you can almost guarantee a D win after his term. These nut jobs will just continue to get more woke.

Has the government done their job well enough instilling fear that people are still wearing their masks as they are deathly scared of getting Covid? I went to the ATM yesterday and a couple of ladies were in a car and as one dropped the other one off in front of the ATM she put her mask on. This is outside. the masks people wear def don’t do anything, possibly make things worse. If the gov did a 180 though and told the truth no telling what type of shit storm that would cause after people being jailed over a mask.

I'd love to see Di Santis as the pres with Trump as National Security Advisor.

Hold out places like Havasu proved masks were BS, all the pro mask people kept saying Havasu would get hit like a ton of bricks because of no restrictions, each new variant gave them hope their dreams of Havasu getting demolished by Covid would come true, eventually they had to shirk into the shadows as that never happened.

There were places like Rock Point MX, pro maskers claimed they take masks seriously there that’s why they’re doing fine, there may have been mask use during the day, but at night in the bars/clubs you couldn’t find one.

Covid had the ability to make the truth and facts extremely fluid things.

Seeing people still wearing masks alone in their cars and people still testing themselves for cOvID should be evidence enough that some have been permanently reprogrammed to accept the new level of bullshit.

I was under the weather after getting back from vacation about a month ago. I didn't feel terrible, just felt about 75%. But tired as hell, with other symptoms, but no fever. I didn't test (I have never taken a Covid test, and don't intend to start now). I just worked from home for 5 days, and stayed home in case it was Covid, and I did wear a mask for the next 5 days after that. I felt like an idiot wearing a mask. I might as well have been wearing an "I ♥️ Biden" shirt. LOL. My county hasn't enforced mask mandates, or business closures since about July 2020, so I haven't worn a mask except when in a medical office since then.

We need to stop testing and stop mask mandates. If you are sick, stay home.
If you are not sick, go on about your life.

Maybe it is where you live.

Here in West TN it is very unusual to see someone with a mask on. Not sure about medical places as I don't go to them.

In FL I went to the Dr twice last spring and no one was wearing a mask. Dr's included.

“Never let a crisis go to waste”
Whether we like it or not, we have witnessed in the past few years a master class by liberals in proving this statement true.
The trillions of dollars in legislation they passed that only had a small percentage related to Covid. They levels that they took control of the education system, the health care system, businesses and the general population are unprecedented. They even used it to maneuver a puppet into a presidency.
I fear we we as a country will never fully recover from the side effects of Covid and I fear for my kids living in this post Covid world.

Very true. I hardly see anyone in Wisconsin wearing a mask...

You want it to go back to normal? Everyone start acting normal. Then it will go back to normal.
Yep. Went to the Motley Crue Stadium tour last thurs in Phoenix . Only saw 3 people wearing masks . Probably 40,000 people . I'm sure there were more as I didn't see every single person . Now I'm at home with covid . Don't think I cought it there as I started feeling ill fri morning . Don't think I contracted it and became ill in 12 hrs .
