Has the government done their job well enough instilling fear that people are still wearing their masks as they are deathly scared of getting Covid? I went to the ATM yesterday and a couple of ladies were in a car and as one dropped the other one off in front of the ATM she put her mask on. This is outside. Public transportation still requires all riders to wear masks. Doctor's and dentist's offices still require masks to be worn. I see young kids out riding their bikes and skateboards wearing their masks. There's still young and middle aged adults wearing masks in the supermarkets. I was at Target yesterday to pick up an item I ordered as they shut down all but one or two cashiers and funnel everyone to the self service machines, and hate standing in line and the line for pickups is usually much shorter than the other lines. The girl at the counter (in her early 20's) was wearing a mask and I asked if corporate is still pushing you guys to wear masks. She said that it was a personal choice. I could easily tell you who she voted (if she voted), for president.
I do outside construction work and a few handfuls of young men are still wearing their masks. Back in 2018 I banned all of my crew from wearing face gaiters due to someone in the city of Industry getting killed from some guy who showed up at a construction wearing work clothes, PPE, bags, and tools wearing a face gaiter - he pulled a gun out of one of his bags shot someone dead point blank he dropped his bags and took off. They found his hard hat and vest, but that was it. Nobody knew who it was. Now with all this Covid BS paranoia, working in the ghetto part of San Bernardino, and now Torrance, I dread seeing the workers with these masks on, I have no idea who these people are anymore. I can't tell them not to wear them because I'll get blowback from their office and my HR department - it's for personal health reasons, the state of emergency for the state of California has not been lifted yet, blah, blah, blah.
Even my father-in-law who is 86 years old, in his younger days (5 years ago), would never put up with all these covid restrictions, now since his wife passed 3 years ago he's become a paranoid old man who is afraid to leave the confines of his house, he won't even go outside in the back yard due to the fact that if he gets covid he will die. He won't open his front door for anyone except for my wife's sister (who as she calls herself, his caretaker), even her other sister who is all vaxxed and boosted isn't allowed at the house. Neither my wife nor I are allowed over since we're not vaxxed, we're the devil and we're going catch it and die a terrible death. I'm sure there are thousands, if not millions that have drank this Kool-aid, and are in the same state of mind. He's too cheap to hook up to the internet (because they steal your credit information and rob you), so he's left watching basic cable and all he sees is the mainstream media blasting about dangers of the "new strains of covid" and how they are easily transferred, etc.
Will face masks ever become a thing of the past and will the world ever become "normal" again?
