Great answer mr orange I totally agree
Jesus.... look him up before making a stupid comment like that.Real or fake...0 fucks given. Just an extreme example of you can take the boy out of the hood but you can never take the hood out of the boy.
We had no idea it was on but saw an ad on tv for it as we sat down at the pizza place. Still didn't watch any of it except the videos above. No one’s watching that shit so they have to come up with a PR stunt. LOL That was as real as Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction.
This is SPOT ON! Mic drop, end of conversation. Couldn't have said it better myself. Absolutely unprofessional and makes a mockery of what is already a program that is circling the drain. Another example of Hollywood dipshittery. No "street cred" loss for Rock. He straight up held it together, was totally professional and lived "the show must go on" mentality. I get sticking up for your wife by the manner in which to handle it is exactly what's written above. THAT's the manly thing to do. Face to face, one on one tell rock to apologize or walk up on stage and professionally address if you're that butt hurt about your wife losing her hair. I didn't see him getting that upset when she was fuckin' other dudes.Kind of funny some of the comments here.
So many people these days complaining about those who are easily offended and say things like "it's just words" and "there is never anything anyone can say that should lead to violence" and "what ever happened to sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me" then come on here and defend this childish action.
I understand defending your wife's honor but you do it like a man and don't take punk ass cheap sucker punches / slaps at a guy half your size. Rock made one joke and probably didn't even know anything about the bitch's disease. He probably figured she is just another whacko hollywierd celerity that shaved her head for attention. Regardless, a real man would have handled it by waiting until after the show, approaching Rock and saying, "That joke was way out of line. My wife has this disease that makes her hair fall out. I want you to go apologize to her". Or if he was really pissed off, he could have pulled a Kanye and walked on staged, grabbed the mic and said the same thing in front of everybody. Now many people are gong to think Smith is some out of control lunatic with violent tendencies nit to mention the possibility of getting charges filed.
Here's another thing. I looked up this disease. The only symptom is loss of hair. "Most people with the disease are healthy and have no other symptoms". It's not like she has terminal cancer or some debilitating disease. I'm sure it's an inconvenience (especially for a woman) but certainly not life altering or ending and certainly not something to get so emotional about unless you're a self absorbed narcissist.
And for those of you asking what would you do if someone insulted your wife, kind of a different situation if you are a private citizen talking amongst friends. These are public people at an event with a comedian host. Comedians always take jabs at the audience.
The only exception to what I have said is if the subject was addressed ahead of time and Smith had told Rock that the subject was off limits.
PS: Saw this comment and LOL'd: Why did Will Smith use a open hand? Because paper beats Rock.
Why no shots of contact? Why didn’t rock have to even move his feet to balance the blow. Why no hand print on his face. I’m sure the REAL story will be on Dianne Sawyer interview next week.
@Loo Dog . . . I was just thinking the same shit.
My Ex- girlfriend was a 6 foot tall gnarly BITCH, . . . she got a college scholarship to Utah State for swimming etc.. . . had 2 older brothers that used to pick on her when she was a little brat.
Needless to say, she was 1 tough cookie, I'd never fuck with her. . . . I told her when we first dated, "I've noticed that You like to run your mouth a lot in public, and that's fine, but if you ever do it to the wrong dude, don't expect me to bail you out, cause I won't" . . . she didn't bat an eye and said, "Not a problem, I can take care of myself".
That being said, if it ever came to that point, no bitch slap from this kid . . . straight hay-maker.
This was 100% fake, planned, and staged, who the F 'slaps' ??? . . . . Chris stuck his head out as a target and pulled to the side like a polished actor/stuntman.
Shame on everyone involved to resort to this low-brow stunt . . . weak-sauce and exactly why I don't watch ANY modern movies.
If this was staged, it was staged between Smith and Rock. Uncle Dave is right. The Academy does not condone violence among it's members and it would never allow that language to be used at the Awards. The academy would never allow anyone to shout out " keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth".
I personally don't understand why any of you even give two shits what any of these privileged art-teeest think or do.
Move along and live your life as perfectly as y'all portray it to be.
How else can the leftist Hollywood bullies create interest in their stupid show?Fake
Not everyone in Hollywood is a leftist. Ask me how I know. How else can the leftist Hollywood bullies create interest in their stupid show?
She does.Doesn't his wife have some sort of autoimmune disease causing it? I could see myself losing it....
Why not? They're pretty much the classless dregs of society. The academy would never allow anyone to shout out " keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth".
Can you even imagine if a White man did this?
Jesse Jackson, and Sharpton would be on the today show immediately!
But because Smith sits on the board at the Academy, they swept it under the red carpet. BS!
And then to apologize to Everyone But Rock. Douche move.
And btw…… the police didn’t press charges because the only evidence were some “fresh prints” on Rocks face. ….
My initial take on the slap was that it was staged, these are professional actors who know to throw and receive a fake punch. However, screaming fuck at the top of your lungs on live TV isn't something that they would ever stage, plus the clips of Denzel and Tyler Perry trying to console and calm down Will during a commercial break.
IMO definitely a low blow by Chris Rock to poke fun at someone's medical condition. Sure we need to allow space for comedians to push the boundaries of comedy, but I would personally draw the line at medical conditions. No one put me in charge of what is and isn't allowed for comedy, that's JMO.
Will and Jada's relationship history is entirely and wholly irrelevant to this situation, the fact that they are still together shows that they were able work out whatever it was to allow them to continue a marriage. Even if their relationship didn't work out, I wouldn't be surprised if Will was still pissed about the comment, that's the mother of his children.
While Will's response may be understandable on an emotional level, it is not the kind of response that should be condoned or justified in civilized society. Has been mentioned here a few times but I have always told my wife, I will never ever start a physical confrontation with someone to defend your honor. If your safety, health, or wellbeing is at risk? Game on. But if someone at the bar called you a bitch? We just remove ourselves from the situation like adults.
