Just got back from a long weekend in Superstition with a group of fellow wildcat owners! In total, we had about 50 cars. 42 XX's, 3 RZRs, 3 Speed, 1 X3 and 1 Talon.

Friday with a smaller group we rode from The Dip over to the Trestle, up into Ocotillo Wells to Shell Reef, then Gas Dome before heading back south.

Saturday we ran south all the way to the border wall!

All in all was a great couple of days on the trails, I know we have a few XX owners on here, not sure if anyone else was in attendance?

Damn, wish I knew about this. As a XX owner this would’ve been fun to join in on. Maybe next year! IMG_3249.jpeg

Have heard that from a few people, sorry I meant to post about it here and completely forgot. This was coordinated through the Wildcat Riders Facebook group. Mario and I are already talking about the next one!

Someone should have taken home a $250 Weddle gift certificate at this event. Hopefully they put it to good use.

We finally have some Weddle trans gears (0817-052) finished up and in transit, I should have them next week, but probably won't put my hands on them until I get back from the Mint 400.

Yep that was part of the raffle! Thank you for supporting the group and helping keep these cars alive.

Since you're here, do you have any insight into what an oil lab test will be able to tell me about my transaxle? I know at some point I'm going to need to send it to you for the magic, and I'd like to do it before it completely goes boom but also don't want to do it too early if I can get a couple more seasons out of it.

Wont tell you much other than what "debris" they find in the oil. Typically heavy metals from bearings and gears that are getting worn off. The more debris there is, the more wear there will be on bearings/gears.

Unfortunately there is no warning for when these things let go. There is no external inspection that will find cracks on the gears. They will just let go whenever they reach that point. Then you are buying a new trans.

On the first day I was a passenger because I lost a CV boot on the shakedown run the day before and didn't want to hold up the group replacing it, the guy I was riding with had his trans go boom. We didn't notice it until we stopped to regroup about 3 miles from camp and noticed a funny smell and some smoke, he was able to limp it the rest of the way in. Pulled the rear subframe off and there was fluid and metal bits everywhere, but we couldn't find the hole. Guessing it blew out the top or on the front side and we couldn't see the hole without removing it completely. Unfortunately, he wasn't the one that won your $250 gift card 😂

But, when you get a call from Kenny with the Orange Crush car, you can blame me for breaking his trans with my extra 220lb of weight :)
