2004 Essex 29 Alandra Twin - $46900 on Phx Craigslist. Its been there forever. I know the gel is hideous but why?

its a off brand and over 10 years old. You CANT get a boat loan on used over 10 years. So, nobody has cash and if they did they would use 45k down on a new one.

I'm sure it does depending on the loaning institution. On his they loaned on comparable market value. Which is good, because Nada value is not accurate on older boats.

its hideous looking and overpriced, ad has shitty pics too, they look fuzzy and fisheyed. in one of the too few pics of the interior it looks like the tops of the seat is sun roached, and another from the rear shows the gel is not glossy.

Fock it must be winter. has anyone here secured a loan on a 12 year old boat for 49K lately? If you did you needed 20% down and had a rate of 8% or higher. It was probably shorter term as well, not 10 or 15 year length. That's all Im saying, you can get a 2 year loan at 25% for 100k if you look hard enough.

THIS, make that Essex a tough sale, unless its all cash.

NADA will dictate the loan. Its a OFF brand for the demand. Not a huge demand for a 12 year old Essex, that's all.

That boat with a different gel and I'd say it would be gone already with twin 496's. I didn't see the hours on the engines which might be another reason people are just passing by.

The Essex owners I know enjoy their boats and from the ones I've been in and around the quality is there too. Just a different look really.

I don't find the gel all that bad and if the interior condition, is similar to the captain's seat, it isn't that bad either. However, there is some reason it hasn't sold and it probably won't, for awhile now, with winter approaching.

A 25 Daytona won't ride better at slow speeds (35-40 mph) or handle swells as good, won't plane as easy, won't stay on plane at as low of a speed, will suck at towing a tube, won't have the storage, cuddy room or freeboard that this does.

But I'd rather have a 25 Daytona anyways !

I don't like this boat but it's a totally different boat than a smaller cat, can't really compare it they are totally different purpose boats.

Years ago a good friend of mine was the sales manager at Essex/Laser and called me from Elsinore in need of a family of 4 to drive this exact 29 Alandra for marketing photos. I told the kids, "You're not going to school, we're boating instead!" They were pleased. I brought the Howard just because. I took some of the Essex shop kids for a ride and they were blown away. I actually got to drive several of their boats that day and my favorite was probably the 27 Raven. As for the Alandra, I had driven a single engine version before and it was a pig. With twins it performed well and would make a good cruiser. As for the gel, let's just say it's not for me. Probably the thing I liked the least about the boat were the seats. They looked cheap. Overall it was rigged well and was a decent boat at the time.

Like everyone has said, It is the graphics in the gel that are bad on this boat. Also a lot of interior to replace. But seems like a lot of boat for the money based on engines and size if hours are under 300 and it has been moderately looked after. I bet 42K cash buys this boat.

And jrs1939 is right That what my 28 sleek was advertised at this spring with under 100 hrs single 496ho. I paid much less.
