Yeah, I know they send it out to try and fix it. If they can't they give you a comparable unit. So hopefully it'll go that route since it's easier to sell a new in box unit.

However, I'm not done w/ you guys yet.

The new unit I'm looking at says it has three pairs of outputs and my current only has two. So I'll need a little walk-thru.

Thanks everyone!!!

Also, I'm kinda locked in w/ Pioneer since I already have the ipod adapter. I know you said they blow RCA output easily. What causes that? Just wanna make sure it's not something or some hook-up sequence I'm doing out of order.

They usually blow from being plugged and unplugged while the head unit is powered up and playing. When I say "usually", I mean like 99% of the time.

And, if you have rear speakers, just wire everything back to the amp in parallel or series. Never hook up speakers directly to the head unit in a system where other speakers are running off an amp.

IT WORKS!!!!!!! With the ipod.

And all my original cables do too.

So, is has to be the headunit.

I have the extended Best Buy warranty on the unit but they say they have to send it in. WTF do I do this weekend?

Glad it worked. I've had headunits go bad like that before and it's the way I troubleshot it. And as was stated the 3 RCA outs are front, rear, and sub. I believe you only have one 4 channel amp for subs and 6x9's right. You can just use the front and rear like you had before or use the front and sub to have sub control on the deck itself. Good luck

Yeah, I assume that's it but I just wanna be sure it's right.

Check back later guys if you can. Gotta work a little then heading across the street to get a new unit. Just had a cash job roll in the shop for about the price of a new deck!! :D

You really can't test them, not without some expensive equipment. Pioneer RCA outputs are among the easiest in the industry to blow. Usually caused by turn the head unit on and then plugging the cables in to the amp while everything is turned on. Or unplugging them and plugging them in while it's on.

I'm still not 100% sure it's not a shorted speaker wire. Do me a favor and do the drill with the speaker wires. Plug the RCA back into the amp and try disconnecting and reconnecting them one at time.

I would have to agree. Pioneer head units burn the ground trace on the preamp leads very easy. I have also seen it happen just from plugging the rca's in while the amp and head unit are turned on. If if had the motor running you would probably hear intense alternator whine.
