I've walked it. Great place for Olympic Rock Tumbling. Only allowed on LA Olympic years though...

It's been so long that the road was open when I was up there.

So on the way up, a few miles before Crystal Lake, on the RH side heading up...

There used to be a bunch of cabins you could rent. There was also a bar/diner where you could eat. The bar was situated over a small waterfall/stream.

We would ride our motorcycles up there, have lunch, get drunk, then race each other back down the mountain.

This was in the Mid to late 70's. The whole place eventually burned down.

Any chance you remember this place?

Sorry I don't remember the bar or cabins. We would go up and hang out at the lake. We rode our Honda trail 70's up there. Not much racing at 45 mph top speed on flat ground.

No money to fix the road?

Ill just leave this right here:

Benefits and services provided to illegal aliens in California in 2022 amounted to $22,821,903,942.

In the 2021-22 fiscal year, when the homeless population was estimated to be 172,000, California spent $7.2 billion

Another very cool area is rincon rd just north of the off road area past the mini fire station is a gate.

I used to hunt it with several others and we showed our tag and license to the rangers at either the off road area or the Glendora ranger office I think and they provided a temporary free permit and gate code.

This road connects with highway 2 and Iā€™ve gone all the way through. A lot of switchbacks and also camping allowed just be aware Sept through Nov there are hunters.

I have seen bears my lions and bob cats and a fox up there as well as deer.

Just a real cool area to check out. I know they give passes out for camping and what not but you have to lock the gate behind you and itā€™s been some years since I have hunted that area.

Cool video check out chantry and hike to Hogie camp thatā€™s cool too. Grew up all threw there used to hike two cases of beer to hogies back in the day with friends.
