Besides the well known shops (Mercury, Teague, etc.) what other builders have members used and had great results with? Just looking to get some insight on shops that build/rebuild quality engines for boats.
QMP helped me out last go round :thumbsup:thumbsup

So if you have a specific engine, Mercury, Teague, etc. would you only recommend going to these builders for rebuilds? In other words, do they have their own setups unique to their engines where you would get better performance/reliability?
My buddy builds motor for street racing and boats on the side. I asked him one time if this is the correct way to setup this motor and he said "if you ask 10 engine builders how to build the same motor all 10 will have their own way of doing it". He also said all 10 ways will probably work to. Lol
Obnoxious here on the boards does great work! :thumbsup:thumbsup
Bounce did one, Lew Larson built another... No issues whatsoever.

Where are you located, and what kind of build?
obnoxious001 - Barry here on the boards is the first that comes to mind, assuming you know all of the big guys... Gordy @ Pfaff, Alexi @ Boostpower, etc...
Can't go wrong with one of Barry's motors. See Obnoxious001 on the boards here. I met him years ago when he built me an 800hP Whipple S.C. motor for the boat. we've been good friends ever since.
I believe that he built the engine in this boat. :thumbsup View attachment 276297
A lot of great names in here. My last 3 engines were from me, Paul Grichar and the last one Pfaff. My next one will be from Barry Obler hopefully.
Barry Obler has built 2 twin turbo motors for me. Great work!
Ain't that the truth. My dad and I have built all my engines with good success. If I were to have an engine built it would be Barry or Alexi.
Barry Obler did a 468 blower motor complete rebuild and heads on two SBC blower motors.
x2:thumbup: .... great experience working with Barry
I hear Bob Jeanblanc at BJs Marine in Anaheim knows his stuff.
Lance at Bucket marine, honest and fair no bs like some builders.
Larry Peto at Larry's Engine and Marine in Tucson.
I have Lance do my stuff, he backs his work up, Havi local, and will follow up if any issues arise. There"s a reason he"s sought after bt IHBA/NJBA guys:thumbsup
Bucket Marine: Lance is Merc certified, was the lead tech for Eliminator when they had a repair shop in Havi
