I think it is somewhere on here, guy turned around to tell his passengers to sit on the other side of the boat then couldn't avoid the other boat and hit it injuring 3 people!

NEEDLES ? Three people were severely injured when two boats collided on the Colorado River near Park Moabi in Needles, officials said Tuesday.

Antonio Barbosa, 39, was operating a 20-foot day cruiser Saturday evening at approximately 25 miles per hour when the distribution of weight among his passengers caused the vessel to lean to the right, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff?s Department news release.

Barbosa, of Los Angeles, turned around in an effort to have passengers redistribute themselves more evenly and once he looked forward again, he was unable to avoid a collision with a 21-foot Commander boat anchored along the Arizona shoreline, according to the news release.

Three passengers in the Commander were severely injured: 20-year-old Matthew Ambriz of Bloomington, 42-year-old Daniel Rocha and 43-year-old Patricia Rocha, both of Rancho Cucamonga.

Water conditions were rough in the area due to moderate wind and Memorial Day holiday boat traffic, officials said.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning, according to the news release.

The county sheriff?s department and Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit were investigating.

That's awful. I know accidents happen but how do you hit something that is stationary? It's like hitting a parked car, wtf?

I was waiting to see if anyone would post about this... We just returned after 10 days at Moabi. We were staying in a peninsula site and heard all the sirens and helicopters too. We heard there was an accident and some people were transported via helicopter. Hopefully everyone is okay.

On a different note and not trying to jack this thread but what is it about some people- primarily the Latino's? I am not trying to turn this into a racial thing- there are good and bad in every culture but I swear these people do it to themselves and get labeled based on there actions.

We were in a peninsula spot (spot 16 the group spot) for 10 days. Everyone knows when you book a spot you get your own beach real estate. Saturday morning were hanging out and drinking memosas and chilling when this pack of brown guys come rolling down onto our beach with a clapped out rhino and about 5 quads. They completely disregard that we are there, are boats are anchored, and all of our stuff is set up on the beach. They start doing donuts spraying sand everywhere (it was pretty windy) and just fucking up our area. Had we not said anything they were looking to take over a part of the beach. When we approach them and so kindly ask them "what the fuck are you doing" we get told to shut the fuck up and "what are you looking at"- I though we were all going to come to blows but they left. The dipshit in the rhino whom also had the mouth almost buried the rhino in the sand and that would have just been the awesome.

I don't know what my point is here, just venting I guess but it drives me crazy when you see things like this happen and they look at you like your an idiot or the bad guy for standing up for yourself.

If this happen outside of Pirates or south of any peninsula's, there is no AZ shoreline, just jetty style of rocks, so were they anchored on the river, not trying to point fingers just trying to get a better point of view, plus the other guy hit a parked boat, so how close was he running to the shoreline?

Three people on one side in a 20 foot day cruiser should should not have any weight distribution issues and if it does, it must be a real POS and barely seaworthy. How heavy were these people? It must have been a serious lard barge.

The three people injured were in the Commander boat that was beached by Moabi. The report does not state how many people were in the boat that was moving. I've seen some close calls in that area along the beach. We had a wave runner spin out (no it was not Miguel) in front of us last year when we were beached there and almost came up the back of the boat. The passanger on the wave runner was cut pretty bad on her arm and side but we could not figure out how or on what. We Bandaged her up and chewed his ass while we were helping her.

The youths of today (any race) in society have little or no respect for others, it's the entitlement mentality, we camped a few years ago on the peninsula closer to the entrance like site 2 or 4 near the restroom, as the sun is setting a guys beaches his pontoon boat and starts walking towards the restroom, seconds pass and a Pit bull leaps from the pontoon boat and attacks my friends Black Lab Puppy, and proceeded to shred the puppy into pieces. My buddy separates the two dogs and asked the guy (now returning from the restroom) "whats the deal with your dog" the younger steroid monkey white guy tells my friend to get fucked, jumps in his boat and takes off !!

He won't stay and take responsibly for what his dog has just done.

The other family had to unhook the MoHo and take the dog to an emergency veterinarian in Bullhead, the neck of the dog was torn wide open. :grumble:

I hear what you're saying........Doesn't matter if you're brown, black, purple or pink. I'm real sick of these little fucktards that think the world owes them something. Give a guy 20 or 30 tattoos and all of a sudden, he thinks he owns the world. This punk and lots of others that act like him need a serious ass whuppin! Myself, being an old fuck, I get real tired of that shit.

That's a pretty fucked up deal with the dog... I think I would have freaked out on him.

It's not just the youth, the guy that started getting lippy with us was in his mid 40's and setting a great example to the kids that were with him.

I think Cheech and Chong said it best.... Beaners like to eat beans...:)
