Well I wanted a new interior done this off season but my boat motor had different ideas.

One thing led to another and now we are upgrading/installing

-new efi system
-whipple’s new 3.8l blower kit
-new aluminum heads and valve train
-misc odds and ends.

Anyone else getting some off season upgrades in?

Adding a blower or just upgrading?

Finally gonna change out the head unit to something BT compatible😬. I think the current one is original. It has an old school adapter to hook up an old school iPod.
Gotta do some drive work. Thanks for the reminder. It’s one of those things that’ll be a good piece of mind but not necessarily an upgrade.

My trailer is finally getting repainted under warranty from Extreme. It arrived back at Howard last week and they rejected it because it looked like they sprayed it during a sand storm. They really are the worst company to do business with. Lesson learned.

Facts...

only plans for me this winter are some touch ups, and fixing a couple issues with lighting/wiring on the trailer...the fact that they sent it out with the hack job wiring in the tongue on mine still drives me nuts.

Liberator - Need to get some swim steps on it, and do some stereo stuff...would like to get a cover made instead of the cheapo amazon one we have
Walker Bay - Already had steering helm/ram replaced, had new interior done and needs to be snapped in, gonna swap out the stereo to something more modern BT...
Mastercraft - Nothing
SRX800 - Would like to get a new mat kit from jetrim

Had the transom of the Mach 22 redone at KMG and upgrading my outboard bracket to a thicker stock of aluminum. The original was starting to crack and had some bending from all the years of abuse. New seat brackets, carpet, and rub strip while at KMG. Now I have to put it all back together once I get the bracket finished. I'll add some relays for the fuel pumps and bilge pumps, they were wired without relays. Getting some hardware powder coated while it all apart as well, a bit more of a project than I expected. I pretty much have to re-rig the entire transom, and times 2 with twins. The normal 2.5 stuff, injectors serviced, lower unit oil and impellors. Should be boating by March

This might maybe get a new set of reeds. Scared to touch it, 151 psi on every hole still and it's been 4 years of me wringing it's neck to 8000 rpm. Trim cylinder leaks down so kinda have to fix that.

Half done on mine, but replumbed the fuel system, new brackets for oil filter mount, three new bilge pumps and hose, added fuel pressure gauge, and powder coating all the non stainless hardware across the whole boat.

I got my boat just before winter started so will be doing a few things. It has a 502 Mag with a Whipple on it already so no need for any engine work.

It has dual batteries under the engine hatch so installing remote battery jump posts in bulkhead under back seat.

Also installing a dual battery charger/tender.

Will replace steering wheel.

Aluminum cup holders.

It has a couple very small tears in the engine cover so thinking abut having it recovered. I'm not a huge fan of the black checkers on it (I'm sure they will get quite hot to step on) so might have it done in a simpler pattern.

Will convert the trailer brakes from surge to electric over hydraulic.

I'd like to convert to hydraulic steering. I don't think it really needs it as it steers quite nicely now but I like the looks of a dual ram system. It adds a lot of bling to the back of the boat. Not sure if it is worth the money for the bling though. I guess I could just add a couple dummy rams on the back!🤣🤣

I have not even turned on the stereo yet. I may do some upgrades to it.

Also, might haul it down to Vegas and store it at my buddy's house there so I can do some runs in Havasu over the winter.

New transom assembly from Imco with the Hydro rams incorporated. Then Full Hydro to the helm. New MSD Ignition. New Intake, threw away the Quadrajunk and put a proper Holly on top. New Valve covers ,New Imco Aluminum exhaust manifolds and Polished SS tail pipes . New trim pump. New mechanical trim gauge . New steering wheel .Whole new kicker sound system.. Gonna water test tomorrow or Christmas day... If that all goes well , maybe look at getting the interior done...im afraid that might break the bank though.... I can get another season or 2 out of it if that doesnt work out.

We had the boat picked up by Iguana to do the annual service because we may do balloon fest. While it was there I had them update the head unit and the driver controls for the stereo. We blew the motor season 2021 so didn’t wanna get to crazy this off season and next year we plan to do interior.

I’ve already done a bunch of minor fixes that have made using the boat a lot less frustrating (actually Barrett did them). Looking forward to enjoying that next season. Also looking for a new storage cover and possibly redo the Bimini material this year or next.

Custom Covers in LHC probably get the call for the Bimini and if Main Stitch is too slammed to get me in, the cover as well.

Did the new unit cover the old DIN hole in the dash? I want to upgrade my head unit to.

I believe so I haven’t seen it in person yet. But the pics I posted is exactly how it came out I assume. I just think the snap cover over the faceplate possibly doesn’t fit over it now which I’m ok with.

I’m going to get rid of the aqua performace steps .
Going to get like a 3 step ladder
I like the self retracting step but man it’s getting harder to get back in the boat last year . Getting older sucks

I’m doing winter boat switch-a-roo. Pulling the blower motor out of the Daytona selling it for cash plus a Cheyenne that has a brand new built motor and built pump in it. Selling the Eliminator comp ski and looking for a v-drive day cruiser for the stable. Once I have the day cruiser I want I’ll let the Cheyenne go and buy a runner bottom to put the blower motor in and convert it to alcohol with an injection hat.

I have 1 of the 3 step of my 260. Friend installed it for same reason. I added a swim platform. Used 3 times. $150 located in Torrance.

I need to fix 2 scratches. But nobody I know of in Parker. Might drag it up to Havasu if a shop is available. Last few years they have been slammed.

Congrats again on the boat Al. Great choice. Good looking ride. Happy for you man.

Have you priced out redoing the engine hatch? I’m gonna remove mine after the first of the year and have it redone. It currently has those deep mold spots that don’t come out, no matter what you use. Just wondering general ball park of what it’ll cost. I’m guessing a grand.

Just the annual service and I need to fix the fuel vent line (I believe that what it is) that makes me fuel the boat VERY slowly and overflowing the fuel fill, etc.

Rockford Fosgate. I don’t know the model number but if you call iguana and talk to Robert or Will im sure they’d tell you.

I will be doing something engine wise. My boat has been down since 2021. Mostly because I haven't had time to deal with it.

My options are; Either fix existing engine (7.4 MPI), build a new engine, or swap out for another 7.4 MPI, 500EFI, 496 HO, or a 502. I have a line on a 7.4 MPI.

Swapping will probably be the most cost effective. I would like to build a new engine, but I don't have room under the hatch for a carb set up, and I have no idea what fuel injection costs. If I decide to cut a hole in the hatch, it isn't going to be for a single carb setup. LOL.

First things first, I need to get the engine out of the boat and get it checked out.

Thanks, Tank!

I have not priced it out yet. I don't know anyone that does that work up here (although I'm sure there must be some). Probably going to haul it to Vegas. I think Scott (with the 34 Hallett) knows a good place. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Merry Christmas!

Getting this ol Tri-Toon back in the back in the water after 11 years of sitting so my dog and kids quit messing up my Placecraft. Squeezing some more HP out of the old 150 whiles it's torn apart.
Been buying speakers from here for the last year, still need to source a head unit, woofer, and amps for it.
Once this thing is going, then the Placecraft is getting a little do over with a new interior and some gel touch ups, she's 23 years old now.

I found this "barn find". I think just a good vacuuming and some spit shine and she will be good for this coming year....
