Evidently lots of them ordered.
They’re now rolling off the line in Austin.

Musk bragging 250.000 to be built a year.
Too Bizarre looking for our driveway and NFW would the wife drive it.

Maynard and his crew think EVs are ridiculous - I don’t bring it up.

I don’t get it. And I’m a Musk fan but it’s not really a truck. It’s in its own category. Anyone who needs a legit EV truck would go with the Lightning or Rivian. They’d still be disappointed Im sure lol

I live in Tesla Central ha... I get sick of seeing em everywhere .... I can tell you guys most that I know with them are in technology and see these autos as moving computers really. I have a friend on standby for the new truck so that'll be my first experience with that ugly mess. He also has the Rivian truck and seems to like it. For me, I need a bit more interior pazazz for that money.

I think its going to be interesting and good for competition.

Ford just lowered the price on the lightning up to I think 9-10K. They obviously see this thing as a competitor.

Elon doesent like to screw around and at this point people have no idea what this thing is truly capable of. What if it has a real world range of 500 miles and out tows/performs the other options for less $$$.

Its hideous but maybe its so bad it will end up being something "new" and grow on all of us.

Translation:
They’ll lose an additional $10k per unit sold.

Fact is, Tesla is the only carmaker making money selling EVs. And will remain so for quite some time.

Legacy carmakers laughed at him, but now they’re all playing a very expensive game of catch-up.

All of which makes this laughable on so many levels…

Ill give you the what if but there’s no way lol. If they pulled it off I’d be the first to say I was wrong. But they’ve come short on every range measurement to this point no?

I don't think its really a truck maybe more like an 4x4 El Camino with a battery
it looks like the bed is not user friendly as far as style goes at least its not another jelly bean shape
The stainless should be easy to maintain long term at least the clear coat won't peel in 5 years
It looks like the design of the body would be easy to make into a suburban type SUV they would sell a ton of those.
most of them will just be a status symbol for cursing the mall, beach and dropping the kids of at school.
It only a matter of time before somebody backs one into the water while launching a boat and the ramp is shut down for hours as they put the battery fire out.

Yes. Tesla is in the lead but they can’t overcome battery chemistry. With a 400 mile range this thing will tow a car 100 miles.

I think the truck game will be very hard to compete in. In reality what percentage of the population that own trucks or suv will ever actually tow?

If you need to tow long distances you have to be an idiot to think an ev is the solution. Most trucks are used for Home Depot trips or taking the kid to the ballpark so these things will fulfill alot of needs/wants.

I could give two shots about saving the planet but if I was commuting 50 miles a day at current gas prices and didn’t have the luxury of owning multiple vehicles this truck could be a good fit.

For me if I was still commuting I would give the 3 Performance a hard look. Tons of fun and the 7500 tax credit makes it almost a good deal considering the cost of standard cars right now.

I’m just saying they have there place and deliver a special unique experience compared to most car companies.

I will say right now if they made a good looking coupe version of the 3 and were able to get some weight out of it so it handled and was a tad faster at the same price I would give it a hard look.

I have one on order. Forecasted delivery is Q3 2024.
I will most likely request my full $100 deposit back. The range without towing does not get me to Havasu (I need 350 miles in 100 degree weather) without stopping and the tow range sucks. If I could get to Havasu without stopping and it could tow my boat back in CA (if needed) with only 1 stop I would consider taking delivery.

Tesla and Speed seems to do the same if you read everything on this site

The problem is most everything on this site is BS.

If you can’t honor the time commitment, one company at least honors their price and specification commitments.

One is a startup, and the other has led customers on for nearly 2 decades. 😂

A gal I went to college with, and her NFL player husband (super cool people) have both the truck and the SUV....they love them..they live outside of Atlanta so they have a charging network etc to access.

He in catagory of not driving aton and says the travel distance is an issue ... he lives in Big Bear mostly back n forth to Nprt beach house. Summers in mtn and winters down at shore so works.... notice they kept the Range gas machine ;)

Most of guys on RDP are needing to drive distances and tow so these evehicles just aren't there.... yet.

I have a reservation for one. Not sure I'll actually buy one, all depends on range and price, two unknowns at this point.

Yeah for sure they're quick as hell. They always want to show me the excelleration and even that nasty looking Rivian moves like mad.

The Silverado EV getting about 450 miles unhooked and about 260 miles towing its rated spex. Reviewers are stating the non-Tesla American and German MFGs are under estimating the ranges on their EVs.

Allison has a 2 speed EV motor that may appear in the HD 3500 that will no doubt have better range. Rumors are 2 or 3 motors per truck.
BTW: The Tesla Semi uses the Tesla Model S motor.

@TPC -
A Tesla semi or the '62 KW electric/cat diesel setup?

The 62 KW has a Tesla motor and it's hooked up to a 4 spd brownie.(I think)
Output shaft on the Tesla motor failed, wasn't up to the torque demands of a KW. Great efforts tho, and thinking outside the box.

I think the SAE should develop a standardized EV towing-range test.

There just too many variables to claim “towing mpg” when we have no idea how that number was derived.

100%. That wouldn’t be good for sales though. At all.

Why not?
John Deere established a test course and invited all other tractors to compete/compare.
Shortly thereafter, it was a standardized 'test'? that all tractors were evaluated on.

Just like the SAE j2807 towing tests for heavy pickup trucks.

It think it would be good for me EV industry.

It will be good for the consumer to know how bad their range will be when towing. That will push a lot of people that need actual trucks away.

Who’s gonna buy a $90k truck that will tow their boat or trailer 75 miles when loaded down?

Think they will keep pushing for electric Semis then? 🤣

Yeah with the recently announced partnerships with other carmakers, they need to implement these rather quickly.

While Tesla has standardized the location of their charge ports for supercharger compatibility, other carmakers put them in random places all over the vehicles, which can make it difficult to get the cord to the charging port in existing superchargers.

I ordered one we will see, I have been a gas guy all my life! After owning E85 Hellcats, RS7 stg 2, BMW M5 C.S. stg 2 I wanted more and went and drove a Plaid I was so blown away I bought one weeks later and love the Plaid even more today!!!! I now have a 2021 Ford F250 Tremor 6.7 clean tuned. All I use it for is towing my boat to the water. (Normally 20-40 mile round trip and pulling my snowmobile trailer 600 Mile round trip) Love my truck zero problems but after driving the Plaid now I hate the feel of the Diesel power and transmission now never dreamed I would say that! 😑 Time will tell if I hate the Cyberbeast or not I am sure I will love it for shorter hauling with the huge huge power and zero transmission but we will see on the longer trips when I need to stop for 20-30 minutes to charge. But there are so so many times when stopping to fill up Diesel truck we eat and chill for 35-40 Mins.

Customer: "Hello Tesla, I'm looking for a truck that can pull my 5th wheel trailer out to the desert with, ballpark, what kind of range can I expect out of the Cybertruck?"

Tesla: "Our Tri-Motor Cybertruck will go 0-60 in 2.6 seconds...., in fact it will beat a 911 with the Cybertruck towing a 911 on a trailer..

WTF?

I'm sorry, I can't get on board with this abomination. It's literally the ugliest thing put on four wheels, by any manufacturer. I think the ONLY reason anyone has any interest is because it's a Musk product.....plain and simple. If it didn't have his company's badges on it, NOBODY would be hyped up about it.

I'll stick with my petrol burning, inefficient, loud and obnoxious pushrod V-8 trucks, thank you very much.
