Solid review by River Runnin. Agree on the Brussels sprouts. Theirs were rock hard. Flavor wasn’t bad tho.

We stopped in before going to the Sand Bar for music and pool. Bar was packed.

Not a full menu as was posted here before even tho a Saturday night.

Waitress was a joke and friend said she was rude & nasty to an elderly lady over 15¢. Broad is lucky I wasn’t there yet.

PROS

Salads were good, fresh.
Larry’s pork chop was really good.
Outdoor area for music was good size.

CONS

Tables on top of each other
Horrible waitress
Table next to us got their food in shifts.
Sides weren’t great.
Steaks nothing to write home about.
No salt & pepper on the table , waitress took it from table next to us and they asked for it back when their food came. ??? Salt shakers are cheap???
Friends wanted A-1 and more sour cream ~ I had to go fetch as waitress was nowhere to be found. We also need more blue cheese dressing that we never got.

We try to support the locals & I’d go back to try stuffed mushrooms and jalapeño appetizers but they need to work the bugs out IMO. Not sure their prices will carry them in Parker.

I get that part - I’m wondering if they are off setting that cost as a flat rate or a % of the bill.

Based on the bill shown above - that’s not 3% of the total spent, which made me wonder if they are just using a flat rate pimp fee for every bill??

I went to a Mex Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga and when I gave them my credit card for the bill, they advised they were going to add 3% for doing so. I got a bit pissed and spoke to the owner. She apologized saying they were hurting and the company who they purchased their POS system said for additional money, charge the customer an additional charge for a credit card usage, since most customers wouldn't notice this hidden fee. I paid it, but told her she has lost a customer for life. I haven't been back since, which it too bad because their food was great. Add 10% to the food prices. I don't care, but don't play me for being stupid.

If Inquiring minds want to know the rest of my story? We went for a early dinner late lunch! Turns out to be lunch! --- Although! ...

They did do the Poppers and Shrooms! But lunch goes from 11am - 5pm.

One was grabbed before I got the pic taken! There be 6 on the iron. I'd a really liked the peppers grilled a bit (some color) but they were green and crunchy. They weren't bad and we did finish them.

More than we figured on the shrooms! They weren't bad, ate maybe 6 (it's a bigger order than the pic shows) or we wouldn't a had room for our sandwich's!

The Skier ^^^ was a damn good Sandwich! -- BLT with an egg! -- Onion rings are very good!

The Wild West Burger ( waitress put in the MR - medium rare) It wasn't a bad burger, but I'd get the Gold Coast with cheese and 1000 island and grilled onions next!

It does appear the surcharge varies with the amount of the ticket! -- If you use a card!

The worst thing I can say about today lunch! --- These seats are fooking plywood, have no Cushion and suck!! -- Should have left them like the bar area! -- A slab of wood!

So there ya be! We gave it a good look see! and about as honest opinion as I could muster!

I feel like Black Bear has slipped. The corned beef hash used to be awesome, maybe fresh. Now it's canned. I gave up on them.

Ok so here’s our review on Whiskey River. We went tonight.

If that place isn’t out of business by Christmas 2023 I’d like to know who, and what, is keeping them open. Terrible.

So we got there like 6:30. The lady hostess asks if we have reservations. Come again? This isn’t Lawrys in Parker. We said no, and she sat us in the bar. Bar seats suck. They aren’t even covered anymore just straight uncomfortable wood. No padding whatsoever.

Waitress takes our drink order. My father tries to get two different beers, they are out of both. I try to get a Mojito but they are out of rum. Fine I’ll take a margarita. Nope out of tequila too. WTF? Had a lemonade.

Not to mention that place needs sound deadening panels all over bad. You can’t hear anything in the bar and shouting at the waitress to be heard is pretty crazy.

So we go to order and they are out of baked potatoes. Ok, so you’re a steakhouse and you’re out of baked potatoes? How hard is it to send someone down to Parker and pick up some more liquor and get baked potatoes while you’re there??

We order. We both get the sirloin pepper steak, medium rare and with the twice baked potato and a side salad. We also got the calamari to start.

The calamari shows up and it’s meh. Kinda like calamari in onion ring batter and the cocktail sauce tasted like ketchup. Ok we won’t pass judgment until we get the rest of our food.

An hour later and we hadn’t even seen our salads let alone the entrees. Waitress lady can’t even keep drinks filled, and was surprised we hadn’t gotten our salads. Hmm, if you came back once in a while and you saw nothing on the table, even I’d figure out we hadn’t seen our food yet.

After asking several times the food shows up. Waitress was apologetic about it. At least the steaks were hot and cooked as expected. I was worried they were going to show up cold and well done. So that was good. But the side twice baked wasn’t big and didn’t even look fresh. The whiskey pepper sauce was meh, had no real flavor of either whiskey or pepper. Stick with A1.

We ate, paid up, and left. Couldn’t tell you about the surcharge I didn’t look at the bill.

For a place that charges the prices they do, they don’t even offer bread and butter when you sit, the side salad is tiny and tasteless, and the sides are either unavailable or barely edible.

My father gave it a D. Maybe a D-, he thought Strokes was way better. I thought it was a C-, for all the hype about it, it was way off the mark.

My father was surprised they didn’t have prime rib, or even ribs.

So maybe if you go in with river food expectations you won’t be disappointed, but at Lawrys prices I don’t know how it’s affordable river food.

Won’t be going back any time soon.

Hopefully the owners read this thread and get their act together pronto . . . boating season tis upon us.
I'm sure there's growing pains, especially with staff service etc. , but the 'basics' have to be there.
I like the idea of a good steak house out there, and I'm sure if all their ducks were in a row folks would let certain things slide a little.
I'd hate to see another business that sounds like a good idea go under . . . especially for lack of a little hustle & some elbow grease.

If you report the CC fees with the CC companies 800 number on the back of your card, they'll will shut off their access. The "legal" Dope 'Dispensaries are finding that out now.
$6 CC fee for a $10 bag of gummies,, nahhh ain't gonna happen.

If it wasn't for the snowbirds from opening day, they probably would have gone under by now. The summer crowd will be much tougher!
