Taco El unico was my go to in Compton for years. 25 years ago worked with a guy that turned me onto that place. Going there at 2 am after the bars closed with a few White Girls was always fun Lol.

If I want Taco Loco it's best to have one of my Guys go grab it. It's always better. Last time I went in they served me after everyone else and I arrived before all of them.

I eat Mexican food probably 4-5 days a week.
La Capilla buddy, 40 years eating the a'mojo de ajo, best I ever had, not even sure how the rest of there food is, but chips and salsa probably top 2 also. Hell, even ran into an RDP guy there with a cute brunette.

There is another place by Stater Bros that is better, but everything comes out crazy hot so you have to let it rest a bit.

If she wants really good tacos and such, have her go to Friedas in Escondido. It's across the street from TJ tacos, but 100 times better.

I have been eating there over 25 years. I used to work at the TV repair right next door. La Capilla bought it. But there is a stupid Torrance rule that restaurants can't expand. So they use it for storage. Only 1 that hot away with expanding was New York deli another regular spot of mine. He let the city building dept eat there for free to get away with it. 15 years ago I got to eat free for helping him build his house.

Ah crap. A little RDP search revealed it was the Big Kahuna who recommended it. I'm screwed..

Dave has horrible taste in food IMO. I rarely agree with anything he recommends. He puts miracle whip on his tacos btw, what’s that tell you.

Seemed like LHC had some pretty decent Mexican food back in the day. Starting with that 2 story place that burned down near what is now an Asian buffet. Casa Fernandez on Industrial was good. Sonora Marisco, at their original location on Kiowa, was good.

Back in the day Casa De Miguels above the old Hussongs was good. 👍

Ok, so just happened to be in North County today and this Nachos Taco Shop spot was only 7 mins from my appointment, so thought I would check it out.

It's alright at best.....I will give it a 5 out of 10. Got the California Burrito. The size of the burrito was meh and it was kind of bland. Green Salsa was watery and had zero flavor. The "sweet salsa" was ok, but $3 for chips and salsa was kind of a rip.

Wouldn't go out of my way again to stop here again. Cardenas market has better meat, salsa and guacamole versus this joint.

When is the last time you went to MX? And I’m sorry to say but sand Diego in particular north county is known for the best food (in particular mex) around..

RD
I disagree! If you're going through Thousand Palms, I highly recommend going to San Miguel in Thousand Palms at 72450 Ramon Rd, Thousand Palms, CA 92276. Order the Chili's Gueritos no matter what and I highly recommend the Parrillada Ranchera (carne asada with bacon and chorizo....I call it the heart attack!).

The desert actually has the best Mexican food of anywhere, but you have to know where to go.

Pretty much the same review my Mom gave it.

Jose’s Taco is just across Mission Blvd, been there decades now.
South East down Mission a couple blocks is Zorba Burger, a greasy spoon ma and pa joint, Mexican and American food.
They have a decent Pastrami.

Used to always hit the Zorbas off the 215, I've driven past the one on mission quite a few times, but never eaten there.

def a solid option

I just realized that was in there. 🤦‍♂️ I need two new hips, the first one is December 17th. After what I went through a few years ago, a hip replacement is like general maintenance.🤣
I need a full knee replacement & after putting it off for 44 yrs it's finally at the point it's hindering my lifestyle. I'm scheduled for some pre-op bs next month😬
A hip is like an oil change, a knee replacement is a full rebuild. Everyone I've known that got a hip was up & around in short order. Hope it all goes well for you.

Well, Dave also thinks the salsa at azul agave in havasu is good. literally like jar salsa, it’s “ok” at best. Lol

Salsa is good.. there is only a couple menu items that are good to follow it up. Chicos has better food, shit salsa..

It’s like every place out here has a strong suit but none mix together. lol

Dave why do u keep letting this troll back on the site ? Either stop being a puss and just leave him for good or ban him for good this back and forth bs is just pathetic for both you and him.
If your talking about rivermobster I don’t have a good answer for ya.. lol.

If your talking about grads.. personally I like the guy but in doses.. hence the here for a minute lightning rod and then back awhile again later.. overall though if people were truly adults you’d think they could handle it. We aren’t adults as it turns out.. or his fishing wouldn’t work. I will say offline he has done quite a bit for me and I’d do for him if he asked.. but i got a few friends like that.. some just don’t belong on a board. lol

His mom saying she don’t like nachos…. Well that explains a lot about past, present family and legacy doesn’t it.. he never had a chance that poor bastard.

It’s comparable to eating chopped tomatoes with a hint of other, zero heat. It’s edible but certainly not even on a good scale, lol

javalina, ask for the hotter salsa, scoop in their regular with a secondary dip in the hot. Now you have a salsa party in your mouth.

Just a heads up as my wife was in fine dining forever and can copy pretty much any Mexican food out there once she tastes it. I also blew up after I met her. With that said, she has told me on more than on occasion, she can tell the quality of their food with just a quick taste of their salsa's. Lots of these little taco shops do everything crazy quick which hinders the taste. Meaning, if the salsa is tart or bites back not because of heat, but because of a weird taste, it is because the chef is not properly trimming the veggies in the salsa....they are literally throwing the stems of the chilis and everything else into a blender. To properly make good salsa, you have to trim the chili's, tomatoes, onions, etc. and not just throw it all in there. Pending on the salsa, so items need to be cooked, where others need to be fresh. It can be time consuming.

I get in trouble if I make white girl tacos and there’s no miracle whip in the house. Dave’s the only one in the house that eats that crap. He also makes a ritz, peanut butter, miracle whip and pickle appetizer that’s repulsive

What exactly are "white girl tacos"?

The taco cart I frequent got robbed at gun point last night. Idiots should of hit it tonight. They bring in like 6k cash on Tuesday nights. 30-40 in line all night for taco Tuesday.

I am at El torito now for taco Tuesday and $4 Modelo pints. Had lunch at Chile Verde. Lunch yesterday at Alfredos. Chile Verde Sunday for trio fajitas. Tomorrow night Miches for fish tacos and michelada.

Crumbled ground beef in preformed taco shells🤮

ask me how I know:

I grew up in a Mexican household and my dad makes the best hard shell taco know to mankind, so when my wife makes “white girl tacos” I want threaten her with a good cussing out and a divorce

My mother's maiden name is, well, let's just say she is as messican as it gets. She was 1st generation.

My dad was first generation Italian.

We had Real messican food in our house...

Such as?

They would go to the butcher and bring home a cows head, cut in half down the middle, with a band saw. They would bake it in the oven, and serve it up on a plate, picking EVERYTHING off that head.

I would sit there Completely grossed out, not understanding How they could possibly do that!?!?!

How about the time the deep fried cow Brains?? My dad told me they were little hamburgers and to try one!

Gee dad, how come they are white inside?

Are they good? Do you like em?

Yeah, they are good!

He told me what they were AFTER we had finished em up.

Pigs feet and ox tail for dinner? Sure, why not!

My dad would eat octopus and squid on a regular basis. It was difficult to watch him chow down on that stuff, but I didn't have much of a choice.

We had menudo and fresh tamales at my house for breakfast. Papas con chorizo and eggs.

Tacos? Burritos? Not in our house. I had no clue what those were until I grew up and had em at a taco stand!

🤣

Any of you peeps ever had a molcajete?

Some of your guys ideas about messican food, is Very different than mine.

There's one in a not so good area that we stop at on the way home from the lake. Roll in there on a Saturday night and there must be 50-60 people getting food. It's so good after a day of boating.

This place in Mexico is the best taco’s I’ve ever had, ever. I can’t explain what it is but we ate there four times last week while pre running the Baja 1000. Place is packed with locals and racers for good reason. They’re also open 24 hours on weekends. That’s how busy they are.

Everything else locally is just okay. I like El Indio in San Diego.

On “white girl tacos” I absolutely do.. on real tacos no.. lol

RD

I'm still not sure WTF a "white girl tacos" is, at least not in the sexual sense anyway?

But putting Miracle Whip on ANYTHING has to be the most disgusting thing I've ever heard.

At least it explains your Bud Light Lime obsession. Your taste buds are beyond broken my friend!!! 🤣

One other thing that people tend to forget is there’s traditional Mexican food from Mexico. So Cal Mexican food, which is unique in its own ways and can’t be found anywhere else. And white people Mexican food. So a lot of times people will confuse one with the other thinking that, that’s the way something should be or taste or what ingredients to have
