So after the 12th of next month I am taking a break from the world. Trying to figure out where to go. Road trip, cruise, fly... not real sure. I just know I want to get away from the world.

Perhaps a 3rd world country? Maybe your drama won't seem so bad after a humbling trip. :D

Europe weather would be awesome! Fly to London then buy a eurorail pass and head south. It won't get hot till you hit Spain and you don't have to go that far. You do realize no matter where you go it gonna be hot or humid right? After the 16th of.next month it's just gonna get hotter and hotter. Go to Greenland, iceland, norway, Sweden, or norway. It never get hot there.

I hear Regina Saskatchewan is nice in June. Maybe Tom will let you rent out the hollowed out pit in his basement?

Take lotion for your skin.

Your worries about weather is going to limit your destinations. You might need to sack up and deal with it if your serious about summer travel.

I've always liked the Minneapolis, MN area in the summer.

They have summer homes on the lake, and plenty of work, that can only be done in the summer.

Temp's are perfect, and the fishing is top notch.

Best part, strangers always say hello, and ready to lend a hand, in the most difficult times.

Show up to church on Sunday, and have a job on Monday.

I was gonna suggest a trip to the far east to meet and be mentored by grand masters in your discipline. Or for something a little different, perhaps a similar trip to China for Tai Chi / Chi Gong - a little more focus on soul searching - inner peace. My oldest sister and her husband went to China and trained with some grand master munks and they said it was the trip of their life. Or something along those lines.

I hear WW has an extra room down in San Diego. And he has a Porsche that needs to be driven. San Diego is not too hot. That's a trifecta right there!

We spent 3 weeks there last summer, rented a Moho and traveled up through Denali NP and then onto Fairbanks, followed the oil pipeline down the Richardson highway, then down to anchorage via the Matsu Valley, reloaded and then down the Kenai Peninsula, hit Soldatna, Homer, Seward, and then boarded a cruise ship in Whittier and cruised south through Glacier NP, and the Alaskan panhandle and wound up in Vancouver... it was so beautiful.... I'm going back next year when I retire, gonna pull the 5er for 3 months to Alaska via Canada Highway 1 and check out the off beaten path in the back country of Alaska ... Can't wait, get off the GRID ....

I've been all over this rock and seen a lot of cool places to unwind. Costa Rica is still at the top of my list. It easily accessible, safe, and beautiful. If you want to just lay on a beach, drink beer, and forget about time, it's the place. Manuel Antonio if you want to be closer to the "action" or Samara if you simply want to disappear.

The NE coast of Brazil is a close second. Recife and Fortaleza have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And to say the "scenery" is spectacular is an understatement! Most beautiful people on the planet period! The language barrier is steep but remember "The language of love is universal!" :D

We enjoyed our trip to Alaska a few years back.

We get 100+ here in summer, although it's rare. Regina would be a decent choice, though.

YB, if you're looking to explore yourself, I think you're missing the point. It doesn't matter where you go.

Ann and I have gone on countless explorations and the best ones are the unplanned ones. You go where the mood takes you. That's part of the discovery.

We went to a hot spring in interior BC that was free, unmanned, and only accessible via a seven kilometer hike. When we got close, there was a sign indicating that we should check to make sure bears are not using it, prior to getting in. The change room was also the out house. Oddly, someone else was there. It was a young guy from Australia, by himself. We sat and soaked for about an hour. We talked with this young guy, tried not to make eye contact with his junk, and then hiked back.

When you get to a small town, check out the restaurant and the store. Look at the bulletin board. See what's going on.

Twenty years ago, I took a horse drawn sleigh ride up a mountain above the tree line near Ainsworth, BC. There were about a dozen of us. Five were musicians. Once there, the musicians played, we drank hot chocolate, and we looked out over the most magnificant mountain range and valley I've ever seen. I recall that it cost $3.50 per person. That was astonishingly cheap, even back then. The chelist was a young girl who was a wonderful musician. The people accompanying her were borderline terrible. They could just barely play. That was all part of it. It's one of my best memories.

How about hiking the red wood forest of Northern California? It's amazing. I intend to do it again in the very near future. How about exploring Oregon? Washington? Montana? Colorado?

Where would I go? Anywhere the clocks run more slowly and people smile when they ask your name. The spiritual healing will be in low gear the first week and high gear beyond that.

If you can learn to be content in Any Small Town, USA, you will learn freedom.

New Zealand? Costa Rica is sweet as well.

Neighbor just got back from Ecuador. Said it was epic. The country has stabilized from the revolution and is progressing rapidly. New roads and infrastructure going in and very welcoming for tourists. Gas is less than $1 a gallon. :yikes
