Hello all,

Where are the go to sources to advertise a couple of unrestored 1960 Thunderbirds I'm looking to move down the road. One is a hardtop the other is a convertible. They are both complete but are in need of a very full restoration. Due to the condition, they are not worth a ton but they are worth something. I just need them gone in a reasonable amount of time.

Thoughts on where to advertise?

Thanks

Im no help on where to advertise. But I will tell ya, what they are worth to you is always more than its worth to somebody else. You mentioned you are ready to move them. Price them to go and they will vanish.

Also where are they located and post up a pic or two. Always somebody looking for a winter project. (read as 5 years in man math)

Givemethevin.com is doing collector cars now.

Might be worth a try.

FB Market has a ton of traffic constantly, but you have to weed thru all the scammers, bots, lowballers and hit-and-run non responders.....

A T-bird enthusiast website with classifides section would be my 1st choice. 2nd would be a FB group for T-birds - just watch out for scammers

Was toying with BAT. The auction part is appealing as I don't have to worry as much about pricing, it will resolve itself. I am not sure on value, they are on the rough end. Someone might be buying them for the trim and detail stuff as they are very complete. I am fine with that. I want something for them but know they are not worth a ton. I'm very realistic on this.

Then I'd suggest BaT. Submit them and see what they say. I had a great experience selling on there.

then I saw Ford.... :(

I'd toss them on CL / OfferUp / Facebook Marketplace since its free, see what kinda bites you get. BAT if they're numbers matching legit collector stuff

I was at Pomona with my car and a friends car but it seemed nobody was serious about buying most I spoke to said they were looking for deals or people that didn’t know what they had. One guy said he was offering 10k on cars that were listed at 25k all day.

Seems marketplace is where most look now. Unless you find a forum group that has a classified section.

Either way good luck

I know they are rough. Fully aware. Again not looking to make a ton of money, just move them to a home that will do something with them.

Maybe wash em up then get that $2500 each they will bring. LOL

:p

For whatever reason even clean T birds don't seem to get that much attention. The 55-57 era seems to be the sweet spot. I like the 62 ragtops though. But mid $20,000s is what I typically see them going for. Never understood why, they are pretty iconic.

I think a power wash would be in your favor. Looks pretty straight and without cancer. Good luck

What #23 and #24 said.

Wash them, air up the tires, then post pics on FB marketplace and Craigslist.

The pre 60's cars are usually sellable much faster. While your cars look straight, evaluating rust can only be done in person.
What you need to do is looking at a T-bird site for parts, and get their listings for parts with pricing. Parts on these old classics are worth more than the whole car itself. I'm just finishing my 72 Volvo 1800 that is a Unicorn being rust free, yet it would be a fortune to replace every questionable parts to make it show room ready. ;)
Example; cost to me so far is 22K cdn including buying the car , bought the car from a friend who restores cars and he needed to unload this one to have time finishing his many customer'sprojects, lol. My car could be sold for ca $25-35K when ready, some gone as high as 60K US on BaT, lowest projects are seen as low as 4K there. GLWS

Those cars would be a labor of love as they just don't have a ton of value even when super nice. Market place would probably be your best bet. The gentlemen who may want them or even know what they are are dying off.

Thats the issue with them. They are a bit of an oddity. Not many around and not treasured like the early two seaters. They were very good in destruction derbies also.

These do have some real rust on them. Its not a total loss but it is real. The convertible is quite rare and the hard top is also a factory AC car making it unique also. probably going to try to get ads up in the next few days. Honestly, I just want them gone.

I Love my '58! It's an original paint/interior car with the factory AC. As soon as the rest of my parts get here it's going on the lift for air ride. Larry Watson had one in the 60's, the "Vino Piassano". Roger O'dell had a clone of it, with the purple scallops and fades. I always thought it was so cool. But, like its been said here before there's just not a huge draw to this era 'bird. I picked this one up for under 20 and drove it 2 hours home running 80 down the highway with the AC blowing cold. If you were closer, I'd be interested in them at least for the parts, if not to build another one.

… friend of mine had a 58 bad motor pretty much rust free …people came over from Denmark and took it home to restore it…
… It is possible these cars are popular in the European countries🤷🏽‍♀️

Original interior, even the carpets. I'm replacing the steering wheel with Nardi unit. I will be replacing the windshield later, it has small rock chips from 1972. I chose 2023 Jaguar dark sapphire paint, original colour was a dull brown one.195 65 15 wider tires will go on, 1 inch drop and 1 inch spacer will be added to make the stance improved.
