about Utah ... my wife and I were looking at Park City for the past 3 years ... love it ... everything cool ... the whole idea was to induce our grown kids ( all about to have their own families) to kinda follow us and get out of CA ... then my nephew ( same age ) found Hurricane UT and all the coolness there ... but they learned something from 2 young families that moved to Utah back in 2017 . .. please do not think this is an anti Mormon / LDS comment ... they are the coolest peeps ever when it comes to being great examples of what families are all about ... but we heard if you move to Utah and you aren’t LDS ... there might be some small things that could effect new young families ... IE ... was told that some Morman families might not allow their children to play with your little kids, join cub scouts may not even allow their children in your home ... they work hard on their beliefs and wouldn’t want to expose their children to coffee or coke or possible any other behavior outside the LDS ideology. Being a member of the local church is very important ... just food for thought .... and of course they have every right to exercise their beliefs . So why do I bring this up? ... cuz both my girls wouldn’t even consider Utah for that reason ... the fear of their kids not being included. Sorry ... didn’t mean to get so heavy ... but ... it’s something to look into if you are considering moving to Utah.

more and more are not LDS and are transplants like yourself. I’m sure at some extent things will happen like you described, but not overwhelming.

My cuz moved to cedar city with young kids and they are always with neighbor friends. Most are not LDS.

we looked at at George, hurricane 3yrs ago. At that time it wasn’t for us and our business.

West Texas is a long trek to Parker.

$55 flights to LAS.. I do that quite a bit, leave a car at my BIL's condo in vegas for that purpose. We drive 4-6 times a year...we're in havasu right now. From our place near Austin its around 17hours.

I don’t see it happening in Idaho. Locals are very leary of transplants but when you get to know them you find out most all came from Ca. Many are more hard core than the locals than worry about them.
I truly pray this is the case. The issue will be Boise State and the population centers that surround educational institutions. As is the issue in most states. The education system caters to liberal ideology and run by democrats. It is no surprise it filters into the minds of students.
trust me i wish this was not the reality and I do not want to see Idaho blue

Just spent the weekend at my parents place in Hurricane Utah.
I would highly recommend this area to anyone looking to escape.

I've looked into that area a few times. Noticed some newer nicer homes, some with larger 3 car garages, but it seems all the developments are being built like a bunch of tract homes on flat land. The properties didn't seem very interesting despite the beautiful backdrop. Weather seems to be hot in the summer, cold and windy during the winter and a few good weather months in the fall or spring.
Not trying to be negative, just struggling a bit to find how living there would make life more enjoyable. I suppose I was hoping for more unique properties.

Lots of larger house options in St George. Rainbow canyon over by sand hollow. Or you could buy property and have a house built however you would you like.

My dads place is 5 bedrooms/4bathrooms on an acre lot. With a 3 car/RV garage big enough for his 43’ coach... Custom home that he bought from the builder.

What I was thinking... can’t say how many times I’ve heard I can’t leave California because the weather.... at some point you get tired of being bent over by the California democrats. I moved to Arizona last year, looking at options to move to Utah myself currently.

I'm actively looking for jobs in Tennessee, lakes everywhere and it's solid red 👍
We'll be making the move to Tenn in about a year and a half. Wife is retiring this year and I'm going out at 55 next year. My daughter's been in Nashville for a couple years and loves it. I've been really looking into the boating/lakes/etc out there, and it's awesome. People couldn't be nicer. Our money will seem to go way farther. No state tax on wages/retirement, so that alone saves a ton. And it's beautiful out there. Can't wait.

Ya know, some of us old timers planned well in advance. Some of us have established alternatives, in other places and did so when property was far more reasonable.
Some of us can do what we want, go where we want, when we want, based on our desires, not necessities. We planned ahead.
Just because I'm always interested in new options, doesn't mean I'm getting bent over and don't have any, already.

Beautiful morning 😁
