I'm starting to wonder if some of you have ever been to NorCal?
When I’m at the delta and life slows way down and there is not a boat in sight
The glass water calling to get a slalom rip in

I know I’m in nor cal !!
At my happy place .

Nobody in NorCal calls it Frisco, in fact that’s kind gay.
Fixed it for you.

Speaking of, where’s the liberal/ conservative line?
Am I close? 🤷‍♂️

I've been to SF. Never again unless something drastic changes in this state.

I've also been to Shasta and Clear Lake. I'd go back to there but only with a boat.

I think that's a SoCal myth. I leave here and can't remember the last time I heard someone say "hella". Maybe 20 years. 🤷‍♂️
My wife is from Santa Cruz and says it all the time.

I lived in Chico for a few years. That's when i started saying Hella.

But that was 30 years ago. Took probably 10 years for me to lose it from my vocabulary.

Look at the eastern borders on the map.
Each "bend" marks South, Central and Northern California.

Another way to tell.. when traveling by auto. Roll down the window. If it smells like low tide ,you are in so cal. Smells like cows shit, you are in Central CA. When you smell weed and or patchouli you have made it to Northern California.

Anything north of Oceanside is Northern ca if you live in San Diego

There are a few exceptions like the central coast - that’s all by itself

For me it's just short of the base of the Grapevine on the north side where it turns into SoCal.

I personally think it’s the county line of SLO and Monterey. Additionally if you factor in a Central Cal, I think So Cal ends in Santa Barbara, Central Cal ends at the Golden Gate Bridge, and Nor Cal ends at Oregon border.
I second this. Santa Barbara is definitely the last vestige of so cal culture and even they are board line already slightly different. Beyond that it's a different feeling and culture completely.

Since the question was So.Cal vs No.Cal, I would say it's when I pass the Mid State Fair.

Based on some other threads... I'd say SoCal ends when people can't recognize a tamale or chicken soup with hominy in it. 🤣
