at the river and why? From Yuma to Powell. I haven't spent any time there yet and I'm curious about the different places and what makes them better than the other ones. I don't really care for this to turn into a hate on thread and id expect it be deleted if it does.

Thanks in advance

I love Parker. I enjoy boating on havasu a couple times a year.
Parker to me is like Vegas, there is no other place like it .

I never thought I would miss it as much as I do , since I moved away.

For me I live in Havasu, if boating in Parker it's sand bar resort. It's on the water and walking (crawling) distance to foxes.

If I had a spot that I had to pick it would be Parker, specifically in the Keys.. Real Specifically in my old house. LOL That's for a variety of reasons.

I just love leaving the boat in the water, the sense of community, and easy access to good offroading, boating, etc. It's where I grew up going though so that's obviously always going to have a soft spot.

Now that the house is gone, the Blue Water Casino isn't bad as a second choice, but I love freakin gambling so having a casino on tap isn't a bad thing. I live in LHC so I don't have a lot of recommendations for here, but the Nautical with a beach suite and cove parking would probably be the deal or one of the docks. Haven't stayed at LBR (London Bridge Resorts) yet, but know many people that do and they love it.

It's hard to say for me on the Havasu Program because I live here. I can't imagine wheeling a day's worth of supplies down to the boat and going out. I pack in the garage and we only go out for a few hours at a time. It might be more of a paint in the ass to haul everything down the dock, then leaving the boat in the water would be worth?

How much are custom plates and how do i order? On that note I'd also like to ditch cali registration and register in AZ but haven't really figured out how to do that yet either

Take a look on DMV CA and DMV AZ websites. I'm sure they will answer your questions.

Your a non resident. Not much cheaper and more headaches if you live in CA. full time.

Honestly staying up river in Needles is a totally different trip than going to havasu. Both are awesome in their own ways, can't really compare them. I can say that I want to retire in Havasu for sure though. I'm looking to get some sort of Havasu setup so I can bounce between the 2 spots and go a lot more. Was thinking of throwing a 5th wheel at crazy horse for 6 months out of the year, or possibly the islander. or the like. Or just picking up one of those nautical time shares and using bonus time twice a month. Something like that. I also thought about picking up a havasu rental and doing short term rentals between my trips, but I think one house is enough to deal with in that respect. It's nice to be able treat a place like a hotel just leave at the end of a trip, instead of having to leave it "rental ready"

Unless you are going to get an AZ DL, don't bother. You are asking for hassles from the CA police if you get pulled over here with a AZ car and a CA license.

The solution starts with a Du and ends with a plex. :)

I am thinking about a Havasu retirement as well.

On that note Havasu is my favorite. I have not yet done Needles, and have done Parker a bunch of times with friends.

As a kid Parker. We camped at first then had a trailer on the front row ar the Sportsman. Now I prefer Havasu but typically only boat Sunday through Tuesday.

I wish my kids experienced Parker the way I did but that will never happen, mostly by choice.

I can't say anything about other places because I have not been to all of them. My heart lies in Parker, and probably always will, lots of great memories there, and fun times. I have been to big river a few times but didn't have a boat to explore with, maybe more in the future. I also enjoy Havasu, but don't have the resources and accommodation's that I have in Parker. But yea, Parker is the shit, and it has many cool places to go, mainly up near the dam is my favorite area, and most of all at night with a good moon, when the water is calm and glassy....:thumbsup

We might have to GPS the route you take, because the last time didn't work out so good for me! :D LOL I used to love going up there at night, but honestly it's been so shallow for so long, I can't take the chance at night with the water down.

All our stuffs paid for exceptions being the properties. We try and live ten years behind everybody, buy everyones depreciated shit lol. Brand new stuffs 4 times the price yet I dont find it 4 times as fun. Id rather rent a space, room, or house for as often as ill go. I'll be lucky to go 3-4 times a year. Well thats not completely true JT's is on the market lmao.
That seems like a nice deal spot there. Ca or Az side?
It's on the CA side 6 miles North of the Parker bridge.

The Islander in Lake Havasu.

They have the best ramp/marina in Havasu. There are no cops waiting to give you a DUI or long lines to hassle with like at public ramps. Security is a little tight and there are a lot of rules, but the facility is very clean and secure. Other guests are very respectful and you don't deal with any trash. The Islander is very family friendly.

There are plenty of beaches and slips to use allowing you to leave your boat in the water all weekend. Beaches are free, slips cost money. You may also rent a slip for a season if you're a seasonal guest. If you don't have a golf cart, they'll rent you one. A cart is a must for taking stuff and people down to the boat, unless you're walking distance to the marina, which many spaces are. The cart is also nice for booze cruises over to the Naked Turtle through the golf course.

I've stayed in a few different park models and also did the seasonal space thing with a 5th wheel. The park models are all very nice and you get a lake view from most areas in the the park. The park is dog friendly if that matters to you, but only in RV or trailer. No pets in park models, unless you own. You're close to everything and the amenities are second to none. It's a very fun place to be. My only gripe is that it's in Havasu. I prefer to boat on the river, north of Havasu and driving there saves me about an hour each way compared to Havasu.

Here's a shot of the back of the RV site.

HAVASU: Islander, read niceguyeddies post. He nailed it, we stay in a park model and rent a golf cart.

LAKE POWELL: Wahweap Marina Hotel is great if you can't rent a houseboat to go experience this magnificent lake for a week. The hotel is on the water, you can rent a slip and it has a massive ramp/marina with 91 octane fuel. Has a convenience store, 1 pizza joint, bar and grill on the dock and full restaurant with another bar in the hotel.

GRAND LAKE OF THE CHEROKEES, OK. Home of the GLOC Shootout and good boating. VRBO's on the lake, affordable motels close to the water located in Grove, OK. The best VRBO's and the best hotel are located out on Monkey Island. The Hotel is, "Resort Shangri-La," and is a new build that is higher end and really nice. Has great food, awesome pool, small ramp, golf, slips and a decent gym.

Lake of the Ozarks: Camden Inn during Lotto. Awesome time.

For us:

Yuma - Fishers Landing. We've stayed at the RV pads and rented a place up on Swede's Hill. The Swede's Hill rental was nice because you can leave your boat in the water with no issues and you are within walking/stumbling distance to the bar.

Parker - Sandbar Resort and Keys rental home. Sandbar is our favorite though because you are on the river watching all the action. Fox's is a short walk and the resort owners are great people. We used to stay at Buckskin but one stay at Sandbar had the wife and me sold.

Havasu - I love staying at the Nautical and being on the water. I've also stayed at a few of my friends homes and you definitely can't go wrong with good company and like-minded knuckleheads.

Park Moabi - We've camped on the peninsula a few times and that is an awesome experience. We filled up our little cul-de-sac with campers and boats and had the area to ourselves. Water is cold but the camping experience was outstanding.

Powell - I've rented houseboats out of Halls Crossing, Wahweap and Antelope. Antelope Point is hands down the winner winner chicken dinner. The houseboats seem to be in better condition and the upkeep on the boats is better IMHO than the other two marina's we've rented from. However, any trip on Lake Powell is a must do bucket list experience. Awesome experience every time.

That's our river stays in a nutshell.
