I don't see prices crashing. Nobody is dumping toys to try and save their house because this time around their finances were qualified correctly instead of how much do want to be qualified for. I can see a slow down in sales as the easy and almost free money to be had the past couple of years is getting a little tougher to get. Only reasons I can see something going on sale is a seller doing a quick sale for another toy, seller can't find storage, or a divorce sale.

The good ones aren’t going on sale. Good motor, solid hull and good looking gel coat.

I wouldn’t base the used market off of a 2004 mid range hull with an oddball gel coat.

This 100% I don’t think many people have lost jobs yet either though. Everyone I know still has more work than they know what to do with.

I'm impressed that those things are still six figures.

I'm wondering if mid 90's Hallett 210s with EFI big blocks will dip below $30K or stay within reach of $40K? I don't have an F150, so I can't go bigger than a 210. :)
They already are. I have been searching for awhile since selling our 210. Have come across a few under 30k.

I see a ton of 2020 RV’s for sale. Most of the prices are in line of what brand new costs.

Sooner or later people will start selling at a loss our letting them go back to the bank because they can’t afford to sell.

Not many custom boats built in the last 2yrs so don’t expect much to change in the boating industry. The supply is very very low. So the people who have the means buy whenever they want regardless.

When I was searching for a toon I joined a bunch of pontoon pages. I did the same when I bought a Nautique. In the Midwest and the south, they LOVE toons and wake boats. It’s crazy.

The tech in new boats is mind-blowing. Wake boats and toons even have thrusters/joysticks now. Of course inflation and free $$$ has elevated the cost, but let’s not forget that these things are built way diff than they were 10yrs ago.

I have this weird hobby of browsing classified ads at night…From my view, RV’s are dropping like prom dresses. Boats aren’t dropping as fast…yet.

Good debate going on in the Tarva 18 thread about boat prices. @RiverDave mentioned what you could get in the under $10K price point.
That got me thinking about Drift Boats and Rafts. It is popular here in Montana to fish these rivers in a drift boat. Frankly, it is the most relaxing thing I have done, and I've never had a bad experience. You'll be hard-pressed to find a decent kitted raft for $6K without a trailer. I found a guide service selling 2022 NRS rafts out of its rental fleet for a $7k turn key less trailer, but they have been beaten on. This is for an inflatable raft with a frame and OARS, no motor.

While I feel that boats are about 20% overpriced, I have to use this for perspective. A $30K Hallett 210 EFI BB seems a bargain in relation. That Tarva 18 at $10K seems equally as attractive.

I've got my eye on a $37K Hallett 210 open bow; if it is still for sale when I return south, I will likely go look. Hopefully, prices will come down about 20%, and we will return to $30k for that type of boat. :)

You should see boat prices recede drastically by the end of 2023 or early 2024. Gas prices are going to double by then, and they are already 2X what they were in 2021. Combine that with 6 straight quarters of recession and there’s going to be a bunch of people hurting financially and will start offloading there toys! j/s

I highly doubt fuel will be 12$ a gallon in 2 years.

Yet you clicked on it. Wait until February this place should get real spicy threads.

I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm curious what enthusiasts think the market is going to do with these luxury vehicles. I'm already seeing the production runabouts for cheap. That is not a surprise, but many of these boats are like sports cars. Some are going to hold value, some are not.

A local car show this summer had some pretty nice cars, and 20% of them had For Sale signs. I overheard a couple of local club members in their late 60s talking about how the market is going to be crap since the younger folks don't want old cars.
The old car market is weird. There's definitely cars I see us younger people wanting but can't afford. But there's also very few young people who are into older cars.

If I told you that gas would hit $6 per gallon 2 years ago in September, 2020 would you have believed me then? lol (It was $2.50 in SoCal then)

You realize the Brandon Administration just shut down another 56,000 acres of oil leases yesterday, right? They are purposely driving the price of fossil fuels sky high so that the world buys Chinese Batteries and Solar Panels

Disclaimer: Data pulled from the internet; I'm unsure if it is accurate.

About 8.5% of Americans don't own cars. Let's assume they are all about green energy.
33.5% own one car, and about the same holds two vehicles. 24% own three or more cars.

It seems crazy that people are going along with this shift to electric vehicles.

It's either apathy or disbelief the mandates will happen or ignorance.

The poor will be hit the hardest. Let's use California as an example. Smog checks hit the working poor the hardest. Rich people drive new, and passing a smog check is not an issue. The poor drive gross polluter old cars. They can't pass a smog test so they don't register the vehicle. I know this because I was one of them for many years that drove old junk that could not pass a smog test.

How on earth does California think a construction worker from Rialto will get his tools to work in Corona? I don't recall a train route from Menifee to Irvine.

I think that Republicans are not messaging very well to convert the working poor away from Democrats. How on earth will we replace trucking with Electricity, Farm equipment with electricity? Rail?

Makes no sense. What happens to all fuel-based cars? It seems eco-friendly to have them stacked up in a junkyard. Someone is getting rich mandating this shift, and it's obviously the politicians.

To be honest no I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But 2 years ago there isn’t a gas station around that you could get fuel in ca for $2.50. I can’t even remember the last time it was 3.50.

They’ve been slow boiling this frog for years. And we’re still too stupid to jump out of the pot because they’re always dangling another freebie of some sort to the masses.😡

Values rise, values fall. I’ve had my current boat for 19 years. Paid 40K for it new. Asking prices today are in the 70K range for the same boat. I’ve gotten 19 years of fun, waterskiing, tubing, house boating, and precious time with young grandchildren who are now adults. I frankly don’t care what it’s worth.

I believe there's 2 classes of new boat (and RV) buyers - those with cash and those who need financing.
The cash market probably isn't going to change much going forward because those who rang the covid bell and continue to do do so.
The 'financed' market is on the precipice of a cliff right now. Interest rates rising, inflation rising and retirement plan values crashing and the supply chain is about to recover with much more normal lead times.

Ugh! Those gels! Lightning bolts! Tribal Flames! Checkered Flag! Sometimes all three on one boat!
I try to take the high rode as Dave recommends and don't say anything negative about boat adds , but the amount of ugly crap out there for sale last 2 years is crazy. I don't mind paying covid prices on something nice in my price range, yet to find it.

I’ve started to see some normalization in supply chain from vendors I purchase from. One of mine went from 32-36 weeks and are now at 12.

There’s a seat for every ass. As long as the owner is happy with it that’s all that matters.

Yes there were, I was regularly getting fuel for $3.00/gal or less in socal. I knew of 2 stations that were charging $2.50 that were out of my way but did get gas from them a few times. I don't live in the middle of nowhere either, I'm 10 minutes from the beach.

Yes. I agree. I'd never say anything about a specific boat ad. And honestly, I feel all those things individually are fine for graphics. I just have seen them all blended a few times and was triggered, LOL At the end of the day, any boat is better than the one I currently have, and nothing would keep me from taking a ride in one if I was lucky enough to be invited.
