Not to mention the nightmare of trying to work around panels if you have a roof leak.
My solar is on the south side of my roof. My roof was 20 years old so I tore off the south side and installed a new roof before I hand Andy's guys do my install. One of the advantages of solar on the roof is keeping the sun off a good portion of my roof. The brackets that hold the panels go through new 30 lb felt and are now shaded from the sun. Not concerned about leaks but I was also proactive knowing installing solar on an old roof was a bad idea.
