I'm pretty sure that'd be a Trident putting up 105 mph Banging on the Rev Limiter!! I'm curious to see what it will run once a bigger prop goes on it!!

Congragulations Wes, those are some Huge #'s!!

No no test.. I just know that it takes alot more HP then that to clip triple digits in most deckboats, let alone a legit 105 and hitting the rev limiter.

I'll get pics as soon as I can, but it'll be a little bit.. Maybe a day or so.

One more question:
Did Wes Post it somewhere or were you guys just out and about on the boat?

Sorry for being conspicuously absent lately, but we have been slammed finshing up this boat and getting everything on the water for the Powerboat evaluations...

Funny story on this boat. We re-built the transom completely in our new mold to allow a 12 degree angle without an adapter, and in doing so, we were able to raise the "X" dimension nearly 2.5". That is a ton, but we got it as high up as we could figuring we could space it down easily enough. Everyone who had seen the boat had thought that our X was way too low before, so this gave us an opportunity to get it up and settle the problem.

Two and a half inches was way too high. In a very un-Trident like characteristic, it wouldn't leave out of the hole, had a tough time finding a set and even with this much power than we have run before I could barely get it to hit 100 mph, and only that in a turn. Strange... Strangest yet, I absolutely could not get the thing to respond to trim at all. Normally, we are very trim sensitive, and the boat responds really well to input. Not so much with this one. Not at all in fact. It didn't feel like up trim did anything at all.

We spaced the drive down an inch, which helped it launch a ton better, but it still wasn't anywhere near as controlable at speed as we are used to and still didn't respond to trim inputs. So, begrudgingly I handed it to Bob Teague at the evaluations with a plea for assistance in the setup.

Bob came back with the answer that he had hit over 100, but that we had a fundamental rigging issue that we were saddled with above and beyond the X dimension, which he felt was still an inch too high...

... we had accidentally swapped the high pressure and low pressure trim hoses. Up was up, and down was down, but it didn't have any power to trim up when under load. Ooops.

We swapped the hoses, and took it right out at tested it. Where we were nowhere near the limiter before at 100, with a little trim it absolutely rocketed to and past 100 clicking off a 105 and running about 6300 rpms!

We will throw a bigger wheel on it this next week sometime and go looking for the dime. I think it is in the boat, and boy would that be something...

Thanks for all of the help we have gotten in the last couple of weeks.. moving our facility, finishing up some projects and stuff. Rough coupld of weeks to be sure....

So, if you see that boat out there... make sure you say Hi!

I had a friend of the family that had a Conquest Deck boat with a built Whippled 525 I think that ran just shy of 109.

Was it just a whippled 525? Or is it like JackPunx's boat, where it started life as some Merc package and now makes 1250 HP? LOL...

It'd take alot more then 700 HP to run 105 in a conquest. I drove one with 600 HP, and it was running in the 80's..

I know one guy with a pretty beefy (albeit tame) blower motor, and his runs 104.. I wouldn't dare to guess at the HP, but I can tell you it's ALOT more then 700..

To all...

Prop was a lab 30 Bravo 1, and we will look for a lab 32 here shortly.

I have high hopes we will be another several mph faster. I didn't even really push the issue for higher speed once I saw we were already at 6300. Teague got a little over the bill right at 6100 so it added up.

What is tough to believe in my own head is that we hit 100 without touching the trim. That boggles the mind.

It is a tad breezy up there though... ;)

Congrats Wes, awesome number.

I can't wait until Hotboat reviews it and it goes a buck fifteen with that power, and their comment will be on silicone or something irrelevant, the asshats.

105 with the stereo bumping, and the passengers sipping drinks.....:D

I heard the good news last night. It was too loud where I was to ask him, but, I wanted to ask him about the specifics............souls on board, water conditions, weather etc.

Either way, that is an astounding number to reach with a freakin deck boat.

Bob Teague...seems he knows a thing or two about set-up? :D It amazing, at least to me, that the guy can just take it for a spin, look at it and tell what's wrong with it.

Congrats on the success Wes!:D:thumbsup

We are going to be putting some numbers up tomorrow with it hopefully. Thanks for the good words folks... we had a blast with this build and I can't wait to build the next one!

I don't know whose set of brass balls is going to go figure out how fast it goes, but we are about to put a 1200 hp GT motor in the next one.

I honestly don't think anyone will find the answer... But damn... if we are doing 94 with 550, 105 with 700...

It staggers the mind. I will be wearing a full face helmet just to be able to see!

BTW... Food was absolutely awesome ROC! Your peeps know how to take care of travelers... and thanks for the beer!

We are going to try to go get one shortly. Now that we have the recall button fixed at the least I will get that for you.

Video of the whole thing will be pretty cool though... :D Maybe Elsinore tomorrow if I can find a 32 and get some test rides scheduled.

Damn Wes! Those are some seriously RIDICULOUS numbers! I really hope business explodes for you. Its always great to see good things like that happen to great people that deserve them.

You also have a great marketing angle too. "Trident is the 'GREEN' boat of the future!!" lol! Now put a bio-diesel in it and it would be a COMPLETE oxy-moron! lol

If thats something you want to do Wes I can be a middle man if you guys would like. Its no problem for me to swing out to Santa Clarita and I work in Baldwin Park so I am probably at least 50 miles closer than going all the way out to Santa Clarita. (Just a thought)

I'm scared.:eek:Teague can air it out, then we'll tame it back a little and pull some runs that plant you in the seat without going fast enough to hurt anybody.

Anybody want a test ride??????:skull

Trident + 1200hp + Imco SCX = Who has the fastest deckboat?:hmm

Thanks Rick! Might be a little tall. We are going to try to get some numbers out of it on the salt tomorrow... Maybe we can get even closer to our normal slip numbers with the existing setup.

Usually we slip about 4-5% at the big end... this one has a higher "X" so it is closer to 10%. A non-labbed 30 might work though...

We just put some more up on the Trident site... here are a couple from Parker...
