After reading Daves Schiada shop tour thread I was stunned at the prices people are paying for these boats.I know these customs are one off and built with a whole nother level of craftsmanship than any other manufacturer out there. My question is I have a 1981 Schiada whaler v-drive that is very good condition. It was originally rigged as a twin turbo setup so the basic hardware can handle high horsepower. The boat was owned by Art Hale (founder of American Racing wheels and his good friend Parnelli Jones). It now has a basic 454 chevy motor and is just a cruiser but could be turned back into a twin turbo monster with a new motor and taller gears.Given that the whalers are very rare(the deck mold is history)and the v-drive version consists of only three boats what could I realistically get for this boat if I were to sell it?You can see pics of it in the Schiada forum under the 22 Schiada pictures thread.By the way it is not for sale just curious.

cant help with the value of the boat. but it sounds awesome. I have a 1986 Howard whaler which if I understand correctly is the same mold Schiada and Eliminator used. I'm not sure who did it first. but what I can tell you, is it is the boat I have had the most fun with. even with a small block and I/O I can run high 50's and load it with people and everyone is comfortable. there is another member here with a Howard whaler that has a twin turbo small block in it. the name escapes me right now, but he was kind enough to let me come over and look over his set up to get some ideas for mine. he might be of more help on the value, maybe he will see this and chime in.

No the Howard and the Eliminator whalers are totally different hulls. The Schiada whaler is the 22 Schiada hull which is the same bottom as the 21 Schiada river cruiser .The 21 is just a cut down 22 hull .Less freeboard lower profile same bottom.

yes mine is a 21'. I ran into a guy at the springs and he had an Eliminator Whaler and they are twins as far as we both could tell. and I was under the impression the Schiada's were as well.

The Howard is a Spectra Bottom, the eliminator is an Eliminator, and the Schiada is a Schiada bottom. I don't think any of those three boats share anything the same to be honest.

Hard to say because it's a unique boat that is going to take a particular buyer.

If I had to put a number on it my guess would be 25 for selling it quick, and low 30's if you weren't in a hurry.

Hey Just Ducky
I found another comment you made regarding your 1981 Schiada Whaler. I actually purchased your sister boat from Art Hale in 1989. My Whaler is an TRS Outdrive and no longer has a twin turbo. Art pulled the twin out and put in a stock Mercruiser 454 right before I bought it from him. It has been an awesome cruiser ever since. We need to talk ! I’m getting mentally prepared to sell it after all these years.

You have the whaler version of my 21RC.

Mine is a 75 RC with a small block and TRS drive.
