If I were to sell this Snap-On toolbox for $550 and include delivery to an inmate buyer in the DFW area, would that be a good deal? The beat up rollaround cart under it might be thrown in for free.

I bought it years ago in Indianapolis as a group buy and made it my box at the race shop. But because I flew to all the other races, I was never there except in May, and even then used my toolbox that was in the transporter instead of carrying tools from the shop.

It is literally in new condition. The hinged pallet that opens with the top has adjustable clips, which is nice for holding tools that are used repeatedly. It has drawer liners. They're not the best, but are fitted nicely.

The cool racing decals are thrown in free. 😁

The little Team Menard sticker on the upper right face is a copy of a design made by team head painter Richard Rodriguez, who happened to be someone I previously knew from Albuquerque. He was considered the best painter in IndyCar at the time, and did beautiful work that's now been replaced by wraps.

Anyway, it's a nice box. I just wanted to avoid spamming in the lounge, so I'm asking questions before listing it in the classified section.

😁

Nice box at a great price. Ill dig up some pics of my race box someday-It has become my secondary box at the warehouse. 2 full snap-on sets, one for home, one for work. The interesting part is how specialized the work set was-no extras, but the exact tools needed for the trucks we built and maintained. Needed to fit in the hauler and be able to move into dirt pits. Lots of magnetic holders for the flip up top that could be stored below. Someday i'll dig up pics of the pit set up, tool set up and general logistics that went in to a race program. Racing in general has a rule about prep at the shop to win at the race, until you have to race Saturday and Sunday.

Dang, too bad it’s not still in Indy. I’d swing by and pick it up.

Yep, great deal including delivery

I think @pronstar needs it 😆
Me too. It'll give his garage that manly look.

😁

I've always been of mind that when I decide to sell something, it's going to be quick and easy. I set an attractive price, and what I'm selling is nice stuff, not junk. Discussing dollars with whiners and shysters isn't worth the time, I just tell them that's what it is, pay or go away. It's pretty easy to tell which person is on the up and up and the ones that are not worth a minute of my time.

It causes discussions with my wife sometimes. When I listed our Honda Aquatrax 1200s a few years ago, I got a phone call within hours from a guy that wanted to see them that day. I told him to bring cash if he was serious, and we would make the deal happen.

He drove over with his son, I laid out their history, showed him the mechanicals, we ran over to Lake Lewisville, they went for a ride, and an hour later he drove away with them hooked up and I had cash in my pocket. He told me they had been looking all summer for a pair of good skis, and without exception people were selling beat up overpriced junk.

Fonda gave me crap for a couple of weeks. "You could have..."

But it was really nice they went away in one day and called me a couple of months later to say they ran great and he appreciated the deal. There have been a couple of horror stories on the forum about buyers that are just dirtbags. Seems like it's become common since Covid. I know it can't be avoided sometimes, but I choose who I'm selling to carefully if it's a larger sum of money.
