interior is probably ready to be replaced. Save enough so you can dump $10-12k into a new interior, worthy of the boat. 😉

The lake house for my dad is the fun part, the boat just happened to be there during negotiations and inspection. Yup there's alot of upholstery. All looks good. No rips or tears. It's not perfect by any means, but mechanically it looks good. Bust out another thousands to make it right. I don't want to beat this guy up to bad. Just wanted to make sure we were In the ballpark to close this delio.

It does have Malibu factory surf gates installed that the seller ran up a big dollar amount. New axels brakes and Bearings on the trailer. Laundry list of upgrades and maintenance

Spoke to the owner. Should close the deal tomorrow. Thanks for the responses.
I would say if you got it anywhere in the teens it's a steal, looked at a few Durning covid and they were fetching 35-40k.

It sure looks like someone wrote the big check to have gates installed. Whether they are the factory option with all the MLS controls or the aftermarket with either manual control or auto deployment from a switch I cannot tell. Regardless, if it has gates that boat will do it all and is a great boat. Ski, board and surf!

That’s a great boat! We have the same boat with surf gates. Add 750s to the rear lockers and the surf improves dramatically. We have 1400hrs and it’s been almost flawless. 07 was the peak at Malibu. Enjoy it

Just confirmed with the seller lake test this Saturday with compression and leak down numbers. Any idea on a good annual service cost on a boat like this? There's multiple reputable service shops by the lake. I was thinking impeller, oil, anything else to address? Any input again is appreciated.

Engine oil and filter
Drive oil
Distributor cap and rotor
Spark plugs (time to do compression/leak down)
Check belts and hoses
Fuel filter/water seperator
If its got a carb, a gasket/seals rebuild kit

Brain fart, I meant Trans and V-Drive fluids check not drive oil (was thinking I/O).

Also, do you know what motor is in that boat? There was an Indmar flex-plate issue affecting certain engine models. I had a 2006 and had the flex plate go out on me, had to pull the engine to replace it. Did the shaft log while we were in it.

Thanks. The boat should be water tight and fully functional. What's a drip seal?

To be accurate, you don't want the boat to be perfectly water tight.
The drip seal is the seal where the propshaft goes through the hull. You test it with the boat idling in gear in the water. Depending on exactly what kind of sealing system youve got - you want to see a drop or two of water coming into the boat per minute around this seal.
My M/C has 800 hrs and ive never had to adjust it.

Also wonder what the insert in the floor is for toward the back. Possibly a table insert?

It’s been awhile since I’ve owned that generation but if I remember correctly, pull the center cushion in the back and there’s an access panel under that to gain access to the Vdrive. It might be held in with allen or phillips headed cap screws.

The hole in floor should be for table. Will store either in rear hatch or under glove box.

Is there a inspection Plate in the floor to check this while under way? I see one in the floor?
In my Tige there is, I carry a bag of chord with me in tool box, but as RDK mentioned, never had to redo it since i have owned it, old owner said he did it ever 3-4 years. I got some bags and a pump if you want to try them, not going to use them anymore.

I do plugs/rotor/cap/oil/filter/vdrive/trans/airfilter/impeller every yr and fuel every 2 yrs. But we do 100-120 hrs per yr. Mine burns about a quart of oil every 70hrs. It’s at about 1450 hrs and it’s done that for yrs. We also ski it and wakeboard a lot. It’s loaded while wakeboarding. For upholstery go to Gabes in Merced. He has all the patterns. He was the Malibu guy when Malibu was building boats in Merced. Typically 300 per cushion.
