I felt bad for him right from the get go. I think the end game would have been different if his kid were still in HS as we all know teenagers aren't know for smart decisions.

The guy is a douche!!!

IF he had ANY balls......

He would have drove his kid Straight to the office, and made him apologize instantly.

After that...

He should have also apologized profusely, for his behavior as well. (Leaving early, talking shit to his family, etc, etc etc...)

After that...

Paid back the full amount he owed to the boss and said, I will not accept the bonus at this point, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

This is what real men do.

Clearly this guy and his son, are not happy that Trump recently won.

Once again...

He was the only liberal in the company I know of. Everyone came in loving life the morning of him winning. I don’t get into politics at work. But I was very surprised to see 99% of my crew were team daddy trump
Honestly, it all makes sense now as to why his kid would do that.

I think everyone has been guilty of going home and venting. But it was taken to a new level. I know I’m guilty of going home and venting to my wife. Difference here is she knows everything and anything. Maybe he was keeping certain things from the family etc. tonight I am looking forward to actually getting maybe 5-6 hours instead of not falling asleep till 1-2 and waking up at 3:45. I’m glad I don’t need to stress about the outcome anymore.

He made just about $30.00 per hour. Finish carpentry skills pretty much. He worked in my production department.
Oh, so you did him a favor! He can probably just work under the table like all our hispanic brothers that crossed the border and will make $400/day without taxes and he can get on subsidized healthcare and food stamps.

I have had a similar scenario happen to me. I got busy, and couldn't get to the employee before noon (Who I had both loaned money to in the past, and bonused him from my pocket because he was in fact hired through a service but he ended up being a good fit and we treated him like an employee).

He got pissed, talked crap and left early assuming he wasn't getting a bonus that year, and that other people had, just not him. He walked out and "quit" because of it. I held his cash for about a week or two to see if he would show back up - I would have still given it to him because he earned it working the whole year.

He never showed - threw the money back into petty cash. No sweat off my back because I was doing the right thing. I guarantee he was talking trash about the company / and me. I would have told him to leave if he had come back. If you think that lowly of us, we don't need that attitude on the team.

Lots of good advice above, some I wouldn't act on personally.

Do what makes you feel "right" and helps you sleep at night. You have 1,000 other things to worry over, don't let this be one of them.

If he's a key guy in any capacity - figure out a way to make it work. If not, let him go.
