So after all of the trials and tribulations of the past 2 years, I have a fresh 548 BBC built by Barry of Obnoxious Racing Engines in storage. Barry anticipates it will be somwhere around 600+ hp, and I want to thank him because he damn near gave me forever to pay him for the rebuild because of my job loss situations. I finally own it free and clear, and was wondering what everyone thought it would be worth? I know what Barry told me, but things have not been selling for what they are worth.

My reason for hanging on to it over the summer is that I thought I might get back on my feet sooner, but...well, that didn't happen. I have seen a couple of hulls here and there, but it would take a lot of work to get the boat workable even with me having the motor. The motor is complete from billet aircleaner all the way to the EMI Thunder exhaust.

So to my question, would you hang onto the motor and wait until the right low cost boat came along, or would you sell it and use the money for a down payment on another boat? I have seen some awesome boats in the 25-35k range, and selling this motor would give me a decent down payment.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I've been sitting on my Obnoxious 496 stroker motor for...I dunno, 3 years? LOL, I swear I'm gonna fix the boat this season.

Good luck with whatever you decide. :)

That thing is likely just about worthless, I could trade you a 455 Olds for it, but you would have to throw in a few hundy extra to even it out.:D

If that was suppose to read "We'll fill the hole in your life" then I'd buy that fucker today.. LOL I don't see anyone stepping up to pay for this place though other than ole RD. LOL

Dave,
Whats your estimate on what it is worth??

I can tell ya exactly what it's worth.. whatever someone will pay for it. LOL :D

In reality though, 15 - 16K doesn't seem like a bad deal at all for that boat.. It's pretty clean, or at least it was last time I saw it. Judging by the post though it sounds like it could be had for less?

Sorry for your situation TT but let's cut to the chase and give us an estimate as to what the motor's worth to you OR what you're willing to accept.
It's low hp and prolly carb'ed (not a put-down-it is what it is). We're all poor about this time of year and in this economy but 'who knows?'

Keep it if you can swing it and it will fit neatly into a new project in a couple of years.

That is unless you need the cash then sell it :skull:p

I have sold a few that I wish I kept.

Alan, I would hate to see you give that up if you don't have to. I almost wish I had cash to buy it and put it in something.

It would drop straight into this 27' Advantage, know the owners, assume it would be in nice condition or better, and you might be able to work a deal in light of the economy: http://www.performanceboats.com/html/forums/showthread.php?t=28176&highlight=victory

I'm still holding out on a number. If you just want it out of your way, I'll come get it so noone trips over it and gets hurt! But I have another Idea (Lord help me, these blowers may NEVER get installed).

I was the owner of that 22 schiada. Frankly 600 hp wouldnt push that boat anywhere neer getting it to stop hopping or even close to having fun. I had about 825-850 in it and had to run the plates hard to get it to stop hopping so I lost alot of speed. So here is a list of what the boat needs.

Outdrive was actually free so I dont know if it works. It is old has about 400 hours off of a 240 hallet and is a stock bravo 1. It does not have the Steering ram cap on it and it is latham steering so the cap costs roughly 1200 bucks.

No motor and no motor accessories.

No interior no back seat no hatch no bimini and the boat cover is trash

No Trailer - I have it and will sell it if someone buys the boat
Needs new helm

Needs some new wiring and fuel line/gauge line re rigging

The trim plates need new shafts since they keep bending.

Has two major stress cracks where the 2 long stringers end in the front.

Has alot of miscellaneous holes in engine bay that I was in the process of filling.

The boat has Lake Arrowhead rash. (Everytime it gets wet a bunch of small bubbles form in the gel coat, mostly on the transom.)

The boat has been sitting outside for over 1 year so I have no clue what it looks like now but I would imagine some elbow grease would be needed to make it shine.

Other than that it is a great boat if someone has the money to fix it right. Just remember it is super heavy and will need alot of power to push it and it has 2X50 gas tanks so fully loaded I estimate the boat weighs over 6000 which is heavier than alot of 28 footers. There are 3 other 22's that are put together that in my opinion look better and will be alot less expensive once all is said and done.

Anybody that is interested can call me with any questions. I may have some miscellaneous parts laying around. 714-343-4224 Mike

Barry,
Thanks for thinking of me here....you are one of the good guys. I would look at this boat, but it is out of the budget right now. I have found 2 boats complete less motors for under $12k, and that is about where my limit is right now. It is a nice boat, and if I had the cash I would be all over it!

Hold on to the motor if you can, there is no point flushing that money down the drain to let some other asshole enjoy it for 1/2 price :skull
