Wouldn't make sense for mine since there is no exhaust.....lol

I had the same issue. Stripped and powder-coated all transom hardware after 15 years.
Also installed the better anodes. Hoping that fixes the problem. Had zero issues until my boat started spending nights beached or slipped at the Islander

On/Off topic . . . I had a custom aluminum gas tank made. When I mounted it, I tried my best to isolate it with nylon blocks/washers etc. But I did use stainless nuts / bolts.
After a while I noticed the brass gas-cap getting stuck often . . . long story short I never attached a grounding wire to the tab that was welded on just for that purpose.
After I did, problem solved.

Its probably from having a hot to ground. Or some sort of power bleed off.

The PowerCoating probably started to crack with swim step use, I have anodize Aluminum brackets, and after 6-10 years of use, They have failed a couple times. (bent from 2 people trying to stand on the same step, and the other broke at the welding attachments.

This looks like a precursor to a failure.

Well I tried some CLR and it didn’t do shit. It must be electrolysis. I’m confused OSB, what was Shockwaves response?

It’s weird because on my motor it has some sort of reverse electrolysis feature.

Put a anode under each step. Let that do it’s job, instead of your step.
