I want to knock the flip flops off Beerrun. Need some suggeations of cool stuff to do off the beaten path. Ready, set, GO!
Home sweet home.
You could spend a TON of time in the Keys and still not cover all there is to enjoy. Islamorada for fishing and diving and a taste of what "Old Florida" was like.
Hit up the Dolphin Institute and then a lunch stop at Robbie's before you leave Islamorada. Check out all the gift shops as you head down US1. Stop at Bahia Honda and if he's feeling manly, swim in the channel under the bridge with some big f-ing sharks! You can stay overnight in one of the cottages here but it's more primitive than most places.
Spend the day looking for the No Name Pub and maybe an afternoon fishing out of Little Torch Key. Plenty of flats fishing to do. As I typically recommend a guide, look up Chris Robinson. Highly recommended!
Get to Key West and settle in. Then spend the next few days enjoying all of the "Conchy" things you can do. Bars, museums, historic landmarks, Bahama Village, the Conch Train, Hemingway House, Mallory Dock at sunset, the Southernmost Point, Smathers Beach...... I could go on and on.
You'll love it!
